What a ripoff... that must be a pretty pricey supercharger they are using lol. 100k+ for a freaking corvette that will probably still look like the base 45k version (which you can get to 650hp for less than $10,000)

that hood scoop looks gay, and the rest of the car looks like a stock z06. Sorry not my kind of vechicle regardless of how much power it has. It better have the looks to back up its claims on power.

Yes, but GM knows there are plenty of non-car people out there that just want to blow money on some high-po car. Why do you think people buy Ferraris instead of putting $25k into a Supra and will run way faster?

Cause a Ferrari has the power and something called status symbol to back up its price point. A ferrari is in an entirely different league than say a Supra or this cruddy looking thing GM is coming out with now.

Hey I think the car is a POS too, but I'm thinking of buying one and I'll challenge any of you modded E55's with it. Unless you put 250+ wet shot in your car on top of all your mods you won't stand a chance.

I agree, Ferrari is 100% different that a supra. It is much better looking, more technologically advanced, more fun to drive, has one of the best interiors, and will destroy a supra on track. On the other hand, if you modify a C6, it will look 100% the same as Z06/Z07, will be 100% the same in fun to drive, will have 100% the same crap interior, and most likely will be faster. We're talking about GM modifying C6 vs other companies modyfing C6 for much, much cheaper. The only good argument you can really make is that Z06/Z07 will have warranty... but thats really not an issue since there are many well-designed turbo kits that a huge percentage of corvette owners use with no problems.
P.S. RawAMGPower, I dont think your argument is valid. I'm thinking of buying a C6, twin turboing it and will blow away your Z07 for much less money in a car that looks the same.

Well, I agree that 100k is pricey for a 'Vette...but you have to realize that this is probably going to be the fastest stock car ever. Maybe the only competition it will have is a bugatti veyron, saleen s7, etc. Cars that cost at least 500k. I still don't think its easy to justify 100k for a vette, but just look at the performance you're getting. Where can you get stock performance like that? Plus, it will come F/I stock, meaning there could be huge potential with just mods like ECU. I'm pretty excited about this car and can't wait for it to come out. I also can't wait for a twin turbo AMG 63 engine.

in the same issue of that autoweek, they had on the cover the CL63 which IMO looks awesome, but critics still especially in this forum wonder baout the engine. They also have a side story about the s65. a good issue

You mean kinda like Mercedes. To the average person the Sl500 looks exactly like the Sl65. The E500 looks just like the E55. That's a pretty weak argument.

Hhhmm let me see. 100K for a car that will likely be faster in a straight line and around a track than anything under 650K. Yeah that's a rip off. Kinda like the Z06 is such a giant rippoff beacue it's 70K and it's faster and better handling than anything under 400K.

'10 Porsche Turbo PDK, 500e, GL450
still a corvette
But just think that if your FI that engine they almost definitely are strengthing the components inside. As a result you will probably be able to tune this car to much higher levels than a regular C6 or ZO6.
I hope part of the 100k is to fix up the interior. If it is, I'd definitely be looking at one.

Z06 is not faster and better handling than anything under 400k. If you look at Top Gear's lap times, cars like Ferrari 360 Challange, Porsche GT3 RS, and Ford GT were faster on track and according to the driver were much more fun to drive than Z06 which suffers from lack of feel and unpredictable oversteer. Road and Track's recent USA vs Europe track comparison confirmed that both F430 and Gallardo were faster and far superior overall. From personal experience, C6 was far worse in terms of feel and feedback than even cars like S2000 and doesn't even come close to my elise. Its not even all about track times, its how the car behaves on both street and track and how much confidence it gives you to push the limits that really matters. Z06 does not inspire confidence was referred to as "unpredictable" and downright "scary " on track by more than one expert. When F430 Challange and new GT3 RS comes out, they will be much faster than Z06 on track (because their predecessors are already faster) and far surpass it in subjective terms. Then there are cars like Ariel Atom and Radical SR4 which are under 100k and MUCH faster than Z06 on track. And what about the 100k Ultima GTR? I'm not even going to mention modyfied cars that can beat Z06 for 1/2 the price... these are all stock too!

I think there is something intangible to having a stock car with 650hp and something you could get a 100K mi. warranty on.
I could pick up a 1000hp C6 right now for $60K that runs 9s on motor + S/C but what if the tranny goes...3-4 times...and the engine goes...$20K quickly + headache.
