Luxury Motors has a 2004 E55 with 10,800 ticks. They are asking $52,995. I see a S55 AMG loaded for $65,895. These prices seem attractive. Is this a reputable dealer that can be trusted? Thanks,

Are they the same guys as Bentley Gold Coast or something?
I think they are solid, if they are I almost got an E60 M5 from them, a black on black one a few months back.
Located in Chicago right?

Yes, I think they are the same. I have been watching the website and they are really turning the AMGs quickly. I also noted a few issues when I checked Google. They recently purchased a $1,150,000 Ferrari Enzo at an auction for charity.
How would one go about buying say one of the AMGs without being onsite?

2003 CL55 Kompressor Horizon Blue Metallic
But if you do go to Luxury Motors ->
Luxury Motors pushes a lot of inventory ... a ton of inventory. Chances are good that, by the numbers, more people will have horror stories about them than other dealerships.
Basically, it's a used car and protecting yourself when getting a used car applies to Luxury Motors as any other dealership. Amongst their locations, you have a good chance to find at least one E55 that is in good shape at the low mileage point you are looking at.
I got my CL55 at Luxury Motors because at the time, none of the MB dealerships in the Chicagoland area had the ***** to have a used CL55 Kompressor on their lot (that goes for 55K/65 AMGs in general still). At the end of my CL55 lease and I'm looking for a CL65, will the Chicagoland MB dealers have the ***** to have a used CL65 on their lot? Probably not ...

That is a very good price with that kind of mileage,I just purchased my 03 with 30k and I paid 51k out the door.

Its a nice E55 which probably was in hurricane katrina, or pulled out of a lake, or a tree. Their cars are a joke. People who deal with them are silly. Period.

I'll second that. They call themselves a luxury dealer but they are cheap and tacky. In fact it's worse than that. They simply don't care as they have people lined up to take their deals. Yes, the prices are good but be prepared to be disappointed at every point of the sale. It will likely start when you arrive on their forecourt to high bpm house music blasting you from all sides. I was really disappointed with the treatment I received. My wagon was the first high end car I had ever purchased. Call it naive but I just expected to be wine'd, dine'd and sixtynine'd throughout the whole process. On the contrary it was the worse experince I have ever had buying a car.
Yeah, I got a good deal but I would have paid a little more to be treated properly and to not have had to drive away in my car feeling really like s**t.
My advice - go somewhere else.

Wow, interesting thread.
I purchased a used 2000 E55 from a private seller in Chicago. But she had bought the car from Luxury and they had her service history. So I had her bring the car to LM to get it checked out before pulling the trigger.
I had a good experience.
1. First of all, I really like it when high-end dealers just leave you on the floor without kissing your *** or looking you up and down and ask you a thousand questions to estimate your worth. I was in the showroom for about 40 minutes, sat in a bunch of bentleys and AMGs and no one bothered me other than offer me a capuccino.
2. I was outside checking out the car I was about to buy after they had done the inspection when a young guy walked up and started chatting me up. He spoke with an accent and introduced himself as the owner. He gave me his card and said to call him if I needed anything. That was a nice touch, the owner was an approachable and cool guy.
Downside:
1. Their inspection sucked. They were either protecting the interests of the seller as she was their customer for a long time or they just did a lousy job. I bought the car and immediately had to deal with $600 in repairs. CD magazine was busted, hood latch was busted and the A/C was low on freeons.
Mechanically though, I think I lucked out on the car, it passed a PA state inspection (among the most rigorous in the country) with flying colors and I had it checked out by my own Benz dealer and he okayed it too.
Overall, my experience with LM was positive, but I never bought anything from them, so your mileage may vary.

I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions. Who will do a real inspection that might reveal whether there are issues with a MB? It may be worth a few hundred to find out. I do see many cookie cutter inspection deals offered on the internet but a specialist with a good eye is needed.

I did exactly that. I had them take the car to a local MB dealer and paid $150 for them to do a CPO inspection. They ended up fixing a couple of problems under warranty.

I bought my old '02 M5 from Luxury and got a great deal. Only had 3k miles and was less than a year old. However, I spoke to the prior owner (had a friend at BMW get the info for me) before my purchase, who informed me that the car would often not start and he had taken it to the dealer several times with no resolution. Knowing it was under warranty, I bought the car, had the alternator replaced, and she was good to go. Luxury never mentioned the problem. They were also 2 weeks late on the shipping.
Moral, do your homework. Get the VIN, go to your local MB dealer, ask one of the sales reps to look it up in their system, and they'll let you know everything that has been serviced on the car. Next, get a pre-purchase inspection done by the local MB dealer. I did this and had LM drive my car over to BMW for a full inspection. Cost is about $140, but well worth it...especially if you're out of area as I am. Finally, if you really want to be sure you know what you're getting, have them take it to a body shop and get a letter from them that they don't see any paintwork.
There are good cars and bad cars at every used car dealer...our job is to avoid being the sucker.

They are a **** pore dealer in my opinion. Very snake like, don't get bitten!! I bought my C43 off of them almost 2 years ago. When I bought it the car was clean and everything checked out fine.
A week later once I'm back in NH I realize there is a good leak which put about 1/4 of a quart of oil into the skid plate. Once on the lift it is realized that the upper oil pan was damaged from an improperly replaced harmonic balancer recall. They actually cleaned up the oil before selling it so they could dump the car onto someone and get it off their lot. It took a week for the oil to start leaking again and puddle the skid plate. If you call about issues like this you will get promises of repair and a different person on the phone each time. I fought with them and MB to fix the recall properly and had to eat it in the end. With the fix added to the price I still got an ok deal so it wasn't the worst thing that could have happened. Still though, by cleaning up the problem they will pretty much lie to your face.
Oh yeah, the salesmen with the Hugo Boss suits and dark shades are a *******g laugh. Nice suit you monkey retard, go sell another lie. Luxury motors =
I also think the DA was one them at one point......

I purchased my E55 from them, but felt like I need a shower after the deal. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Good pricing, but a few small issues fixed under warranty. CPO is a better route, IMO.

I bought my 03' CLK430 from them. Overall the price couldn't be beat, but you get what you pay for as far as their treatment goes. I wonder how they sell any Bentleys or if they treat Bentley customers any different. They're typical used car salesmen, only difference they're selling high-end cars. I didn't buy my car until I had a Mercedes dealer inspect the car as if they themselves were going to certify it for MB's CPO program. The car passed with only one minor issue which was taken car of under warranty. Like others I say have the car inspected by a MB dealer and not Laurel MB down the street, they might be in bed with Luxury Motors. The reason they sell so many cars is their prices, which are thousands less than a dealer so there you have it. LM's business has skyrocketed. They only had the Downers Grove store a few years ago, now they're in Tinley Park, Hoffman Estates, Downtown Chicago (Gold Coast Bentley) and various other locations.
