Damn, I was getting ready to do remote turbo's on my CLK430. I got pricing on internals and everything. Well good luck Ted and I'm sure you will be able to squeeze 1000hp out of this engine. My friend has a 328i that pushes 1000Whp so I'm sure the 5.4L V8 is more than capable. Keep us posted on your progress and good luck!

Sounds like fun, they made a good call on the single setup. Boost lag is not what it used to be. My friends has twins on his stock motored 03 Cobra and it makes 906 rear wheel horsepower and runs in the 9's shifting gears. It has full interior, including a stereo. I always wanted to turbo a Benz... GooD Luck!!!!!!!

Wait...So are you saying your just going to run the single turbo to achieve this 1000hp? I thought you were trying to combine both Supercharger & single turbo to = 1000hp....If just turbo/turbos what boost level are we looking at to accomplish 1000hp? 25-30psi?

...........getting 1000crank HP from turbo application on a 5.5L engine is really not a big accomplishment. No, you don't need that high a boost in a 5.5L engine. Go to turbonetics.com. In a Mercedes, engine management is the problem. Retaining the s/c simply creates avoidable engine management and space contraints. By using two larger turbos in 5.5L engine, you can accomplish this with the same boost level as the Kleemann s/c. However we are planning on 15lbs of boost. For safety reasons, I am getting cylinder wall reinforcement and low compression pistons. Below is a picture my engine block pulled from the car.
I hope you don't plan on keeping the stock fuel system at 1k hp

great ted, What compression are hoping to run on the engine?
I have done a little research also but with the w211 and it seems twin 67mm with a .81A/R would do the trick very easy. Lag should not be a problem at all with the displacement of the engine. The great thing about this is that if the turbos you pick out dont give you the performance you like swap em out.
Cant wait to see the updates

That sounds pretty safe .... think you could run plenty of boost with that CR... off boost its going to be a bit of a dog though or ??

Even with ball bearing turbos there will be lag especailly if the turbo's are fairly large .. The VVT in the 997 has minimised lag quite a bit but even in that application its not 100% gone. The BB type will help though ... its kind of catch 22... the larger you go the more boost but more lag - the smaller the turbo the lower the max boost but you have less lag ...
Try get the turbo mounted as close to exhaust ports as possible ... this will also help reduce lag ...
I would not go for a massive turbo here as the engine core is no screamer ... a mid size would probably work best...

Lag is not going to be much of an issue on a 5.5 liter engine, the amount of air flowing through that thing at low rpm should be enough to get them rolling. Ball Bearing systems generally help reduce lag by 400-500 rpms, in this particular case its your displacement that will help more than anything else. You'll definitely hit your mark Ted, but I think at some point that baby's gonna blow, they all do.

Curious, how come there is little interest in the STS rear mount systems??
With all the room available out back I would think these would be more popular. C&D had a pretty mean GTO with this setup making about the same power your looking for????

............I was unaware of this system. Looks good. However, I am reluctant to try new stuff at this point since I already have enough unknowns to address.

I went to a couple of shops to look at having one installed, I don't know how the underside of the W210 is but there is absolutly no space to run the intake piping from the rear to front on the W208's.
