e63 owners...paddle shifter question???

are the paddle shifters on the e63 attatched to the steering wheel like the buttons on the e55? i was adamantly told today that the paddles are attatched to the column and DO NOT rotate with the wheel but instead stay stationary at 3 and 9 oclock. i wanted to call bs but since i don't know for sure, i can't.

pictures would be a really nice touch.

I don't know if he was driving an MB car,but then again I'm so special that MB made my E63 with the paddle shifter on the steering wheel.

Maybe he thought the turn signal was the shifter, they don't rotate.
