E63 Paddles mod
So I was able to get my hands on a set of E63 paddles. THanks to my service tech he was able to order me a set.... I am going to try to retrofit these into the E55 steering wheel.. THe paddles are bigger than the buttons so the steering wheel needs some retro fitting.... Anyways wish me luck!

What did the paddles themselves cost?

Yeah I will be sure to take alot of pictures... As for the cost of the paddles, I paid a little over a hundred for them. I forget the exact amount as I ordered them 3 weeks ago. They were on back order...

Please let us know the part numbers - I want to give this a bash too...
Allen key for steering wheel itself think 10mm - quite deep tho, and torx for the air bag - not sure of the size sorry, but also very narrow access and deeply set so need a long bit - extensions I found were too fat...
Advice is keep key out of ignition / completely off (and keep it off) when you re-re the airbag ... otherwise you will thro an airbag light that needs a dealer reset.

I wouldn't go buy these right away as I was warned by my tech that it might be a different resistance as the button shifters and it might need some modification i.e adding resistors or taking out resistors.

Not sure if you can retrofit the whole wheel but if you can it will cost you BIG $$$. New airbag and steering wheel. 100+ dollars and a little bit of modification or spending 1500+ on a new steering wheel and airbag... Let me think about that one....

Get those bad boys installed then help me get a set for the sl. I have been wanting those and found the entire wheel on this forum from amg that had suede and the paddles but never could find any more info on it. Good luck buddy!

Do a search on Kevin M., when he bought his car last year, he changed the wheel and had pics with the airbag out. It may be on the other benz website.
Good Luck

I don't think you need to remove the wheel. Just disconnect the battery (so you don't blow your bag) and remove the 2 hex bolts behind the wheel. The bag should come out and you should have direct access to the buttons.

Ball park 130.00-ish... i forget but it was around that much. These are really nice and heavy. Full metal. I have M3 SMG paddles and they are plastic and cheap.

aye man, its two allen keys to take the wheel off from behind, disconnect airbag, torx bit to take off airbag
then I bet its a screw from the inside of the steering wheel to get the buttons off. then use a file... to gently increase some space for the new buttons to fit...

do AMG wheels come in stone interior? I didnt think they did... a white interior with a charcoalsteering wheel is gonna look a bit ugly dont you think
