Ok. We can figure out when and where to meet up closer to the 17th. I called Saddlewest and I have and extra room so I will keep it until I know everyone has someplace to stay.

i spoke to donna today and she told me the (i asked) the track has a noise limit of 103 db, does anyone have any idea of how loud that is? my car has no mufflers i would rather keep it that way than put them on. is there a place i can go to measure my car db level??

I would assume you are fine, given that they are a race track? Look up the sound levels of race cars to guage yours. Only replace the muffler if you must.

Dunno where I'm staying. Tell Ms V to hook a brother up with contact info on wherever you stay. I may stay with my cousin if I can get in touch with him tomorrow, if not I'm getting a room tomorrow. he has a 911TT that I was hoping he'd bring out.

I think she's incorrect on the sound level, I'll double check tomorrow. They have a Corvette School at the track with the new Z06's, as well as Porsche Cup cars, Ferrari Challenge cars, and the Radicals that are there as well as the ones that run in the Radical School are by far louder than the Z06's.

I'll double check and post.

So I guess 103db is not that quiet. Here's what Donna Said:

Cyrus,
The sound limit is correct at 103db, as required by SCCA. It is written in
the Country Club contract. The Radicals and the corvettes fall within that
range.
Warm regards, Donna

However, if you don't have any mufflers at all, it may be too loud, even louder than the Challenge cars, so if I were you I would put them back on just to safe.

Oh heck yeah. Ask Cyrus, but you may not be too late to join as a driver. Call Donna and add yourself to the RSVP list along with me. Bad comes to worse, you can drive my car some!!

Update on sessions.....

Hey guys/gals, i got this email from Donna regarding track time/layout we will be running.

Gates will open at 8:00am and close at 4:30pm. I think we will have four run
groups depending on how many people show? Sessions will be 25 minutes and we
will be running on the 3.1 mile track.

Jangy, I don't have Donna's number with me, can you give him her number to call. I think he can get in, more important is getting a room.

Mint. Thanks. I'll forward R the info. He has family there, so he may also have a place to stay. Also, R is resourceful, so he'll sleep somewhere.

Also, my cousin did call and wants in. I forwarded Donna's info. He was the one I asked about before with the 911TT.

Hey Cyrus:

can you chime in on the type of track it is? does it favor power vs agility or otherwise? I'm just trying to get a feel for what little tuning I can do.

This configuration has some of each, but more power would definitely give you the edge. There are three straights where you can put the power down hard, however, there are a few tricky turns where if you're not balance properly you'll lose a lot of time. One section where suspension settings are key involved two medium speed drops, one after another, while on a gradual right turn, where if your suspension is not tuned properly you will definitely lose time or.....control

Other than those two drop offs, the track is pretty flat, with little visual cues, so you pretty much need to memorize the track as opposed to relying on visual cues to let you know where you are.

This track was designed as a teaching track, so it's more technical. It is definitely one of the more challenging tracks, where there is only a few places where you can relax, other than that mentally you must always be alert or you'll get bit.

So, in a nutshell, I would say this configuration would favor power just a tiny bit, but then again, the Radical puts out only about 200hp and it will whoop any car's but out there because of its handling.

Sorry to ramble, I hope I gave you some insight.

Cyrus
