hey big guy CY so how much are we going to be charged has that been determined or is it still free???

just curious living on a budget is hard for a pimp LOL

let me know

Track day is FREE!

Helmets - I know they have helmets there for the racing school and they will probably be available to use. However, I would pay a $200-$400 not to put my head in a helmet that's been used by countless sweaty, smelly people. But that's just me. By the way, the $$ you pay for a helmet is the price you are putting on your head, so choose wisely.

I plan on picking up a helmet this week. I have been looking online at different brands and models. Just not sure what to choose. I was thinking of going to one of the karting places or a Bike shop to purchase one.

Cyrus any recommendations would be nice.

I personally have 2 Simpson helmets, they work well.

Others have Bell and G-Force helmets, that they like.

So G-Force Bell, or Simpson are good helmets for the price.

http://www.saferacer.com/ for info.

You may want a closed face helmet if you think you may go karting at some point, or going to be in an open cockpit car. But if you know for a fact that there's no way you would be in an open car, then get an open faced helmet, they are more comfortable and cooler.

With a closed face helmet, then you get into aero effects, if you think you're going to be in a fast open car, you may want to get a helmet that's more aerodynamic since helmets that don't have aero will tend to lift at high speeds, but they are also more expensive.

I hope that gives you something to go by. I'm not sure if they have helmets to buy at the track.

Oh, one more thing. Motorcycle helmets are not the same as car helmets. For one, most of them are not fire retardant, and that alone makes a huge difference, also the shape and construction are different.

Thanks. The G- Force were the models I was looking at. I am going to go closed face because of karting and I know some tracks may require you run with the windows down. Thanks for the aero tip.

I am off to CR Motorsports in San Diego now to get mine. I think they only carry Bell and some brand the ferrari team uses ($$$). The Bell Ultra series is what I'm after.

While you're there check out the Schuberth (The brand Ferrari uses) helmets and let me know how much $$$$ they are. They're supposed to be awsome helmets, very light.

What exactly is your car getting done? A new crank -- sure hope not that would blow? Is it still down from the pulley issue Jangy?

If you dont go... where is the fun of a track day???? Get that thing running!!! Track days are great! Got one here locally on the 14th of March also so if you miss this one come to the one at willow then!

An air system??? Good lord I have never had an issue with airflow in my getto Bell. I always have enough airflow since u drive with the windows down at these track events (all 4 windows -- most tracks require that).

But nice set up!!

I'd like to make both. Yeah, it is still down from the pulley fun. The crank itself is fine. That metal is stronger than an ox. The pulley basically disintegrated onto the crank and so it needs to be cleaned properly and MB has had no time. It just got in today. If the work is a no brainer and it cleans right up, then I'm a go. If it entails having to take the front plate off, then it is even more time. If it goes so far as needing a crank rebuild (bearings, etc.) then we need to re-decide all i have planned for this car.

I actually got it more to stay cool than to breath. It was only 200 for the system, so I figured oh well.

what on earth are they doing to the car? I have and entire motors re-built from a stack of pieces (R129 M119 V8 back in 1992 and a M104 W203 AMG in 1997!) faster than this pulley was resoved! Any specifics yet on whats being done. Im just wondering.... this stuff is always interesting.

Always March 14th Jangy. Fear Not.

Mario-check out hotels.com or priceline. Every hotel in Vegas is not sold out. The floor thing won't work, we need a little privacy!

I want to leave during the day not at night so sometime around 1 or 2 I am planning on leaving SD, so let me know if there is way for any of us to meet for the rest of drive.

Hi Shelle, I'm leaving Manhattan Beach around 1:00, we may be able to hook up somewhere around where the 10 and 15 meet, for the drive up to Baker where you'll be turning left to go to Pahrump, and I'm going to keep going to Vegas. Lemme know.

Mario, I'm going to be staying in Vegas, and I have a room reserved at Saddle West in Pahrump, total is $238.06 including tax for two nights, King non-smoking. Lemme know if you want the room.

Still no word yet on the car.

Best case. I get the car back, but I can't leave work before 4.

Worst case. The car won't be done, so I will miss out.

R: LOL, The hemi would be funny up there, but it would cause more traffic than laughs. I wish I had another car to bring, but I don't. This SUCKS!!!

Cyn: Actually, The car didn't even get touched until yesterday. All the other SDCrew guys have been getting all the tech love, so it has been a logistical issue with getting it in. I'm pissed about it, but I'd rather it be done right.

Vadim: Hehe! If I can go, we can hook up on the way.
