I don't make a habit of racing,but today on the freeway I was cruising about 75 and came up on a guy in a black Evo. I signaled my change to the left lane to pass and he jumped on it. I was still in the left lane and he backed off and let me catch up to him.

Just as I was about to finally pass him,he jumped on it again. This time I was ready and smashed the pedal of my E55 to the floor. The traction light came on! I have a new set of blizzaks on the car so that was surprising that I was losing some traction. Even with the car wanting to spin I put 6+ car lengths between us before I hit 5th gear.

It must've been about that time that he saw the AMG badge on the car,because He just dropped way off and I never saw him again.

they're quick (especially off the line) but they're not that fast...even when moderately moddified. many lesser cars can take them at freeway+ speeds.

regardless, it's a good kill. i love it when others don't know what they're messing with.

stock for stock, no comparison aside from the launch if the EVO has the guts to drop the clutch at 6k rpm....

modified they can be quick, I've seen one with a few bolt-ons and more boost run 11.5 @ 117MPH....

Your car looks fast! My E55 is totally stock,and I was wearing a suit and tie today. The stealthy look of the E55 is one of my favorite things about it.
Looking at one,it just shouldn't be that fast.

The new BMW dealership? I was there when they opened the BMW dealership. Did they open another one? I haven't been back since July '05

Yes,they opened a new mega-building for MB,Porsche and Audi next to the BMW building on south rimrock last fall. I'd guess they at least tripled the MB inventory.

Wow, I was invited when they opened up the new BMW dealership, but I don't know they also moved the MB, Porsche and Audi operations there as well. What happened to the old one by the Alliant Energy Center?

It's used cars and I think they expanded their Saturn francise there.

The new facility is top-notch and large (around 50k sq ft).. the shop is state of the art. You could do surgery on the floors.
Overall an impressive dealership. Porsche has at least doubled in inventory too.

Nice. Zimbrick is pretty good with service. John used to be my SA and he takes good care of my old car. However, I don't really like their sales people though, but I wasn't that great with negotiating a price either.

I talked to their Porsche team about getting a 997 and they were pretty helpful with all the info and ordering guide.

Unless the Evo has a larger turbo they do not have the gearing or the hp/tq to compete with a 55 on a roll on the hwy.

At launch, the evo leaves the 55 standing like a joke, but then the 55 catches up. On a freeway roll an Evo is no match. I have an evo and have raced quite a few of them.
An evo with a bigger turbo is a whole different beast.

So what will an EVO do in the 1/4 against an E55 ? Who wins..stock v stock
