Kinda funny... lots of you guys talk about holding value... How much are used 05-06 E55 going for now or other models? 45% depreciation in what 1-2 yrs???
Benz are just as bad as any other car in holding their value... 100k+ stickers and then 2ys later going for 60K-70K...
All you guys talking about exclusive yada yada yada... please... AMG Benz or not you can barely tell the difference from a regular base C-class... They all look alike to the normal person. If you want exclusive/exotic buy a ferrari/lambo or even a viper and you will turn the heads 10000X more than you would in your $100k+ Benzo....
As far as the z06 goes... give credit when credit is due... Ive never owned a car with so many little electrical problems than the E55. If you disagree just look at the countless threads on this forum Do I love the car? Yes its a blast to drive but its far from Perfection... just my 2cents...

jimand7 .. bottom line is, you can put an as.shole in a Ferrari, and he's still an as.shole .. the fact that you equate quality (actually make) of car with quaility of person proves you to be .. well, an as.hole in a benz.
i drive a benz, love it .. doesn't define me. if the new vette is that nice, i may want one .. if a lambo then that .. you just keep thinking a persons car defines them .. but the truth is we all see you as a jerk in a nice car.
there are just so many better ways to judge a person than their car!
just my .02 cents.

Of course it does not define you but when I see a dude driving a vette the only thing I can judge him on is his decision to buy a vette. you ahve never had a first impression? To me it is not cool to have a vette. that is all I am saying. Are these discussion boards not about opinion. If I got talking to a guy in a Corvette and he was a cool guy than my first impression was wrong. BUt First impressions tend to be the best ones. I am glad you have yours, and I have mine.
however- you have to agree that performance-wise, the vettes own most of the exotics while undercutting the prices by 50-70%.

i think you're points have a little bit of substance behind them. i sold my last 2 c5 z06's because i hated going to the corvette meets. there were NOTHING but redneck racists at the meets and at least one or two confederate flag flying yahoos at each meet. being foreign i would always hear the ignorance at the meets. funny because since i'm much bigger then most of the guys at the meets, they wouldn't say anything around me, but it was impossible to not overhear.

I will say that a zo6 would beat me in a race my friend has beaten me. But I have a four door car. And it was damn close. we went to about 100.

I still cannot get past the plastic interior of the corvettes. GM may want to take a few tips from the much cheaper Solstice.
Also, why can't GM get the right tire/wheel well visual relationship? Tires always look like 2 to three inches too small for the wells.

What's funny here is you .....You're far to well versed in the Personalized plate, body waxing, gold chain wearin' mentality You sir obviously fall into this category, the saying "The one who smelt it dealt it" comes to mind w/your intimate knowledge of "cheese Dix"
You must be quite a site rollin' around town done up in the aforementioned garb, do all your gold chains get caught in your seat belt, or head rest?
Anymore of your hillbilly/Cheese Dix sentiments? rituals? you care to share w/us? there quite entertaining.

While I think this is all wildly stereotypical... I'm still waiting for you to really define WTF a "cheesedick" actually is.
Also, how are you familiar with it? Is this a Chicago thing / extension of personalities? Like Cheesesteak?

To some degree it is an extension of your personality. assuming your not a car nut and own 30 different kind of cars. The enviromentalist (with means) probably would not buy a zo6 and the gear head (with means) probably would not buy a used festiva. I mean my best freind has a Z06 and I call him a cheesed*ck whenever he drives it. Because that is what he looks like to me.
Sure there are awesome people that have every kind of car. I am just speaking in (politically incorrect terms) generalities.
I admit the Z06 is fast could beat me at the track. BUt if I wanted to beat a z06 i could (maybe a noble) that is not the point.

Well I do have a home in the North woods of norther wisconsin Upper MIchigan area. I think I have vast knowledge of cheesedix. Cheese as in Wisconsin. Most of the folks are great poeple though. It just seem the guys that own the vettes up there pull into a house that is worth half the value of the car. That does not bother me I think that it is quite funny, unlike your reference to flatulence.
Because I know quite a few Vette owners that don't fit, or look anything like your stereotytypical 1970-1985 description of a Vette driver.
There are numerous Benz slash Vette owners on this board, just because you live in Hick-Barneyville, USA. doesn't carry over to the rest of us.

"DUDE" It is not just a geographical thing, they are everywhere. Obviously they are in CA. PS I live in Chicago, is that a big enough city for you? IN fact I think it is bigger than any city and surroundings in CA.

Ohh.... Is Dude, also in your How to be a "Cheese Dix" reference log? How old are you? Dude is a Cali term, just admit you made a gross generalization defining your neighbors, possibly yourself? and apologize like a man, or a DUDE, & we'll forget all about your little brain fart

Jimand...I am from Chicago too...all my life..and I have a house in Wisconsin...cheezdick and gold chains and chest hair just don't jive !!! I also happen to be Italian...I do have hair on my chest...I have a gold chain..come to think of it I even have a pinky ring.. ...but I dont think I fit any of your generalizations....neither do people who own Corvettes...lets just move on...Corvettes are cool...I would venture a guess and say there are as many meatheads driving MB's as there are driving Corvettes.

The new Z06 will deff need a facelift of some sort to get current/new owners to abandon the outgoing model.

'06 E55, '05 SLK55, a few others
There is nothing they could do to the car to justify the price. The local "Cheesedick" dealers are still asking 20K over sticker for an '07. With that in mind, it would not surprise me to see the SC model going for 120K+. No way is any Chevy worth that, not for a minute. I also would get a used C6 and SC it instead, or buy a used SL65 for the same price. I see used '06's going for more than an '07 STICKER price. When the market calms down and everyone loses their hard on for this car, then I think it'll be worth a look. So far, they aren't losing value like my MB.

I'm extremely pleased w/C6 I'm sure if you bought a Z06, you'd see the price validation, hell! I've driven my friends C6 Z06 in Vegas it is SICK! add a blower to that, plus cornering ability Just drive one before you knock it
