What is planned for this forum?

The future is something like this.

I'm going to create two forums within this forum. A W211 forum and a W210 forum.
I will disallow posting in this particular forum. You will have to post your threads in either of the specific model forums.

In the end it will be something like this

AMG VEHICLE <-- You cannot post in here, obviously.
E55 AMG, E63 AMG (W210, W211) <-- Currently you post here, but not after this move.
W210 <-- Currently this does not exist, but you will post here after the move.
W211 <-- Currently this does not exist, but you will post here after the move.

I will begin the organizing in the next few hours and it will be an on-going project. If you wish to help, contact me and I'll review your contributions to the forum and I'll see if there is anything for you to do.

Please feel free to ask questions and do not be afraid to offer input.

Will there be an easy way to get into either forum directly from the index page?

There will be a way to access the forum directly.

Thanks for the typo catch, it's been fixed.

Doesn't make any sense. There are general E55 questions that are sometimes posed to owners of both. There is no reason to split this up. It's just a pain in the a$$. The whiners that don't like reading about W210 stuff should cool out. Some of us own both. What about Jangy's question on SDS. Where does that go??? Bring back ONE forum.

Two forums is the way it should work because W210 owners have to weed throught a lot of the W211 stuff they may not care about. The split was imminent based on the amount of traffic that passes through here.

The root folder might be a good place for topics regarding non-specific E55 topics/matters but moderating that might be a pain.

Keep up the good work Ricky.

Actually we considered the idea for a while and based on lots of member feedback and some thinking of the longterm goals of the forum, splitting up the different models made the most sense.

Under the idea that we should have things merge, what about the owners of us multiple Mercedes model owners? Might as well make mbworld.org on forum

We won't have a root folder anymore, most all topics can either be in the current/previous style are either Off Topic, W211 only, or W210 only. A very very few actually involve both the W211 and W210 and we'll be moving those threads into the forums which they consider the most.

OK, but again, there are questions that pertain to both cars. Do we need to have some posts in both forums??? It's just a confusing mess when we are talking about 1 car, just different versions. Do we now need E55 and E63 sub-forums under the W211 sub-forum?? What about the CLS55 VS CLS 63?? Can't we all just get along???

well we can look back at the C class AMG cars and see that with the chassis came a new forum. But in the CLK forum its all in one. So there is not much consistency going on but some people did voice a wish to make the two forums separate.

So I guess they are just doing what a good number of members asked.

You cant really make everyone happy on this one.

From what I remember, the members wanting the subforum structure was unanimous.

Outstanding!

This is great news! A big thanks to the moderators!!

While the w211 writers are "best of breed" and I have enjoyed many of their threads, there was just too much chaff to sort through in order to find w210 info. In the past few months I have rarely visited more than once a week, and even then I usually just do a search for "w210". Except for the trunk badge there is very little in common between the two body types.

OMG Thank God about f00kin time
and i'll tell you why:
in recent years, the w211 crowd or cars outnumber the w210 e55's by a lot. the threads about w211's outnumber w210s by least 100 times more.
what does that mean? well w210 people stopped posting in here, that's what happened, and they either used regular w210 non amg board, or went to completely different forums that have dedicated w210 e55 section

so again Thank Vraa

With time, I'm going to split up all the forums that aren't the same chassis.

There is just too much difference to have W210 and W211 in the same forum, same goes for the W202 and W203, or W208 and W209 or any other you pick.

I know it's still confusing now, there are a few thousand threads I need to pick through to decide where they go

Jrocket - Thanks, moved to W211, let me know if you see anything else.

jimmydagreek - Yep, I think it was a long time coming, especially with the E63's here as well.
