2007 escalade
anyone here have one? my niece and nephew just bought one and the technology destroys what we have in the E. I am shocked at how nice the escalade is. is the nav better in the s or is benz just not up on touchscreens and accurate technology of that type????

CLK63 Black, E350 Wagon, Supercharged Denali, Lotus Elise, Tesla Model 3 Dual-Motor.
I was in Chicago last night and the hotel took us to a local mall in one.
I fell in love with the dash and the blue pointer needles they use.

C63, Scuderia, 599, 16M, AEV Hemi Jeep, '57 Porsche Speedster, '55 300SL, SLS on order
Great to look at for the first 5,000 miles or so -- but then when they start creaking and rattling and things start breaking and falling apart, and they lose their luster.

The nav is the only thing that is a major disappointment in the E55. When I really need to find a place,I take my Tom-Tom.

Best thing about the new Escalades and Denali SUV's is the 6.2L and 6spd auto tranny that is not available in any other GM vehicle. This engine has 380 hp in the Denali and 401hp in the Escalade. I agree with the resale value comment.

Hope your dynamic seats are still working, I just updated my DVD from 2005.1 to ver.2006.1 and it has much more up to date information and an operating upgrade as well. The newest version now is 2006.2 and I understand it has twice the data of 6.1, but only available at dealer. You should check your ver # on DVD in trunk.

Not an Escalade, but some tech musings...
The MBZ has absolutely the worst Nav amongst all my cars, The Corvette gets better and the Pilot has absolutely the best Nav. Just absolutely the best without comparisions. The Corvette's "keyless go" equivalent is more responsive than the CLS. The Pilot Nav comes with a rear camera standard. However it is still a japanese utilitarian vehicle, and the Corvette is the greatest design feat by GM in my opinion, but still a GM and I got it because it offers the best bang for the bucks. The MBZ is still overall better, with an absolutely pathetic Nav. I find it amusing that it doesn't even offer you a dipstick!

if you get an 07 Escalade,
whatever you do, turn off your blinkers at a stoplight
if i'm behind you and you have them on, don't be suprised to see me busting your tailights with a baseball bat
grrrrrrrrrrrrr they are soooo bright, big and annoying
but yes on the topic, you'll like it first 6 months then you'll see the real quality come to light.

The only thing I have had to prime before starting is a 60's 70's muscle car with a manual choke... Or my Honda lawn mower

No. Keys in my jean pocket (as the MBZ) push on the door handle (reversely) on the tactile switch as the MBZ, then they have a push button on the dash for start/stop which has faster response time than the MBZ. This button can be used to select the "On" position (like using a key to the #3 position) without engaging the starter, which you can never do with the CLS.

Oh and to the original poster, try driving a new Escalade...rented one to drive to the mountains...can you say BODY ROLL. It was awful. Rented a Suburban on the next trip and it was so much better.

I had the car in for it's 10k and the dealer did look at the seats. Apparently, the dynamic seating issue was self inflicted. I had the lumbar cranked up to high. I am current on the dvd. It's just weak as hell. The street I live on has been a street for at least 30 years and it shows me as living *off road*..

I still don't know how to do a few things with the CLS, like fast forwarding/fast reverse within a track of a single disc CD. My wife and I tried to look for the feature while we were on a road trip through Sonoma, pulled off the road in this beautiful farm/vineyard country, putted around with it and the COMMAND manual for a few minutes... Finally gave up and relistened to some of the same previous track. (It was a book on CD thingy my wife listens to...)
Already learned of the car's limitation of having to have Nav and Audio on at the same time. The other Nav systems are independent of the radio/sound system. Most time I want just the scrolling map on, with no sounds in my car... doesn't work with the CLS except for using the MUTE button.

[QUOTE=silversurfer;2070289]Ditto above post....how long have you owned your CLS and you still don't know how to get the car into accessories mode via keyless?QUOTE]
I still don't know what most of the buttons on my TV remote control do!... Guess that's really bad in your book, huh?
Do you know how to adjust the timing and tune the carburetors on a 2X4 on a 428 Cobra Jet engine? even a single carb set up? Or adjust the lifters on a DZ302? Guess I'm old time.

05 E55
I've got a Denali and must admit the nav is better than the one in my E55. However, I hate the fact that GM makes you acknowalge the stupid disclaimer every time you start the car. That's one thing MB got right.
