2 SPARE TIRES as Skinnys at Drag Strip????

I know Im gonna hear S#%@, but I will ask anyway. Between my fathers and mine, we have two aluminum E55 spare tires, (Very Lightweight). Could these be used at the strip as skinnys up front???

It is afterall a straight line and there is not exactly a lot of weight on them till you hit the brakes.

What do you guys think?

or do I have to see if CCW can make a set, although I don't know if he does. The Viper has a set for the track from him, but the E55 brakes are larger.

You cannot go over 50 mph on those spare tires, if you do the bolts will come loose. Not a good idea at all.

If you go CCW, make sure you mention the E55 17" drag rim he has the program for. He has been stamping them out for a lot of people. Rear rims that is.

It's not the prettiest looking thing, but everyone is freaking over how they hook with the MT drag radials.

***edit..sorry, just figured out you were talking bout the fronts...nevermind ***

Don't waste your time or money. Since you can't use a small diameter rim (they still have to fit over the calipers), there won't be enough weight savings to make a measurable difference. Just inflate your front tires to about 50# to reduce rolling resistance and call it a day.

I wouldn't use the spares, either. If rolling resistence is really your concern, get a "skinny" 18 and throw a narrow tire on it. you aren't looking for smaller diameter anyway. The cost would be minimal and you'd be safer in the end.

I have no pics, but CCWs are the only 17s i know of that will fit on the E55. I thought they may have even made a set of 16 for someone on here? I may be crazy. I'm not a big dragging fan, so i don't pay so much attention. I think that rear rim for drags is what got CCW into W211s in the first place.
