Looking For A New Ride!

People don't get me wrong but I really love the beast, but I want something different. I have a few rides in mind but looking for advice. Here are my choices...keep in mind a $150k limit.

1- 2002-2004 GT2
2- 2001-2003 360 Spider
3- 2005 SL65
4- 2008 Z06 SS/Blue Devil
5- 2004-2005 Gallardo

Remember these are different types of cars with different types of attitudes. I do not care which is faster. I just want something different!
My wife said that if I bring her additional business I can keep my E and mod it and still carry the kids. If anyone in Northern California needs to buy or sell a house send me a pm. I know an awesome agent!

I would get a new 997TT. I'm not big on used, but that is just me. Of all those, I'd say the SL65 but I hope you get a much better deal than $150K for an '05.
Good luck and let us know.

HANDS DOWN I would go for a SL65. I loved every momment I spent in that car. Its ridiculously fast and its a luxurious drop-top as well. The gallardo is not a real lambo, Its more like an audi with a lambo outfit on or a poor mans lamborghini. If its not a murcie its not a lambo. I smoked a 360 in my cls yesterday and I felt really bad for the guy afterwards. If your not trying to spend that much for the 65 then go for the audi R8(same engine as gallardo).
or the new maseratti coupe. see link

It depends on what you want from your car. If you want more of a "head turning" effect, get the lambo or 360. Forget the chevy; its a darn 100k+ corvette. It doesn't matter how fast it is. For some reason I'm not a huge fan of p-cars. They are just so 'tiny' looking to me. Maybe it has something to do with being 6'6" If you want to burn almost everyone on the road in style then get 65. I personally don't justify the "super expensive" MBs.

If I were in your shoes I would get 360 spyder, rim it up and call it a day. Sure you would lose to a CLS55, but you sure would look and sound WAAAAAY better.

Agreed mostly. Other than I am a Porsche guy. The newer P-car is actually bigger than the newer vette. The GT2 is awesome. Nice looking, fast on the street and fast on the track. I would also recommend the 360 spyder as the top choice but more money. It has a big wow factor, quite fast on the street, and incredibly fast on the track. The SL, I would drive it, but will not buy it. Mostly cause it is a pig on the track and doesn't have as big a wow factor on the street for the layman.

Jack, I would recommending going to test drive them and see what you feel. All those cars are awesome. The vette is great but a long wait.

PS - Mark is asking about you.

I'd go with the Ferrari. But then I notice that you are already married and realized that this would be a bad choice for someone with a wife

So maybe the SL65 makes more sense. A bit more understated, fast as hell, comfortable, beautiful... Wins on all fronts save the 'magnet' factor (hehe). But again, married this is less of a concern. Leave the Italian iron for the single guys!

360 or sl65. (both are Bay Area ballar)
in the bay area none of them will really stand out like other parts of the country.
my neighbor has both and i drool over both. the bad part is he never drives them. always driving his A8. Says its not as fast but by far the most comfy car he has ever driven.

what company does your wife work for and what area does she specialize?

when and if i can afford one im goin with the CL63! but outta your choices i would get the G-car in that crazy green color but in convertable, i seen one on e-bay that looked to damm crazy. you would get alot of looks and kids tryin to race you and a bunch of stupid questions. so if that dosnt bugg you then get it.

SL65 would be the way to go. IMHO, it's better looking than all the other choices and is easly upgradeable if you want to go faster. I think it's going to be hard for Mercedes to trump the current SL design because it looks so damn good.

GT2 or Z06: These, in my personal opinion, are true driver's cars.

360 and G-car: Head turners, but fall slightly behind in the performance segment compared to a few other cars in the price range.

SL65: Not a driver's car. But you can sleep while running 11s.

None of us know anything of the 'Blue Devil' to draw any conclusions yet.

Wow thanks for all of the responses. I agree with Newton, but the Z06 and GT2 while being special they look identical to their baseline cars(to the non car enthusiasts). I'm feeling the idea of the Lambo with tubi exhaust in Pearl Yellow, Black or Classic Silver.

I get the same feeling with the 360 Spider red or black 19's up front and 20's out back, F1 transmission tubi exhaust, blipping through the gear box. I guess I may be after the show and sound factor. I need to take a trip down to Newport Beach in a couple of weeks to clear my mind!

BaldMike, my wife is a realtor for ERA and she has listings from Pleasanton to Pittsburg to Tracy and Riverbank. So if you or anyone you know in Northern California that may need assistance send me a PM and I can give you her info.

You can't go wrong with the 360 or Gallardo. They're just soooo damn hot. I would never get an SL over an italian exotic. And a chevy??? Although the GT2 is a great car, I don't think it can be compared to the italians in status or looks. But whichever one you pick, you'll be a straight-up baller.

If you really want something different an SL would not even be on my list. From a "pure" performance driving perspective the GT2 and Zo6 (i'm not a vette guy).

I'd go with the 360 - and who cares if you won't beat every other car in a drag race? There is more to driving than going light to light. Not many cars that will give you the complete driving experience that the Fcar will. Plus, it will most likely retain more of it's value than anything else on your list.

I started keeping score and the Gallardo and the 360 are pretty close. Like I said before it doesn't matter which is faster. I guess after reading all of your post I want something that looks great and sounds awesome. It's spring time, it's time to sell and buy real estate! Let me know if any of you need assistance. (California only)

360 Spyders are arguably one of the sexiest cars on the road. Thow some tasty rims on it and GOOD NIGHT. I will tell you there is a big trade off (especially if you have become fond of the tourque/power/performance of the E55). A co-worker had a 360 Spyder (actually, for sale at a local dealer and had Tubi). The net is when we raced from various speeds it was REALLY Ugly for the 360 (my E is stock). The car is fast but not like the E, and comperable to other hi-performance/low torque cars you watch the tach go up but don't feel the power. BUT, the sound of the 360 with Tubi is unmatched (period) and if you had a 360 and E55 parked next to each other in a parking lot people would flock to the 360 and ignore the E55 (I have lived this...).

Whatever you do, good luck. A Ford GT is not a bad option if you like to go fast.
