On my imola red ///M5 i had 19x9.5 front and 19x11 rear OZ supeleggera III wheels, i gotta tell you they looked Amazing, but im not sure they will suit the Mercedes cars. On my other ///M5 i had 19x8.5,19x11 BBS LM's with painted centers, also looked amazing, and i didnt have to wait 4 to 5 weeks for either wheel to get made! Tirerack sent them to my house mounted and balanced 3 days later. HRE's arent worth the wait! GFG's are beautifull wheels but yes they are cast wheels, but so what they look butter on a bagel!

Wow, where to begin?!?! There is a great deal of science that goes into the construction of wheels. There are different processes by which wheels are made. Casting, forging, spin forging, etc. Many companies claim to "forge" their wheels, but its not necessarily the optimum process, and the definition of "forged" can be pretty vague. GFG claims their wheels are forged but from what I understand its more of a "spin forging" process. Also, they're heavier than King Kong's left nut, not exactly what you're looking for in a performance car, especially if you like to keep your brakes healthy.

305-E55- I don't have an exact answer to your question, but I'd say the average difference would be about 5lbs. Unsprung weight's effect on a car is debatable, but many accept it to have about 3x the affect of sprung weight, so think 15 pounds per corner.

Those OZ's are sick, but doubtful they'd look good on a Merc, classy choice nonetheless, OZ makes dedicated racing wheels.

However, the OZs will look absolutely sick and nasty on the new 997 Turbo (even RUF uses them on their Rt12 and RGT)

Yeah, GFG's aka Giovannas might as well be cast out of the same pig iron they used in the Titanic. Ashanti is a wack singer and I think she might weigh too much as well. Are you a fan of spinners too?
Radenergie, Renntech, BBS and Kinesis are good substitutes. Did anyone ever throw WORK wheels on their car?

E55 (for sale if the right offer comes along)...too many others to list
HRE's are great unless you need to repair them. I just spent $2500.00 repairing mine. However, I give HRE credit for creating a wheel that can withstand a 70mph speed bump, the car catching air, and still not cracking. They had to take the wheels off to see the barrel damage.
FYI..for those that are laughing at me...I was racing around in an area that I didn't know. I slowed down, but didn't have time to stop before hitting the speed bump. Point....you get what you pay for. My wheels didn't crack or break, and I'm still alive to talk about it.

This is a interesting thread, seeing what everyone thinks. I am a lip person, I love large lips and flush fitment. For that reason I wouldn't go with the HRE brand as they only offer standard lip sizes for specific vehicles.

Money talks. You guys should go check out HRE if you ever get the chance. They do some pretty crazy custom stuff. Some idiot was getting brick red spokes on 22's when I was there. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
GO FOR THE HRE's!
