witness the 2nd pass at 11.8

I was there in the staging lane and saw enzom's 2nd run. Unfortunately, my camera guy recorded eznom's cousin who had a very unique colored ferrari f430 (burgandy-ish) and skipped his pass...sorry Lorenzo. So I will co-sign for ezom that he ran a 11.8 @ 118 today.

SleeperX best time was 11.5 @ 122
Mig E55Rocket best time was 12.2 @115 with 20inch shoes on.

PS- Lorenzo, I will put up your cousin's vid tomorrow...off to bed.

My mouth stayed open for about 30secs after seeing what this car ran on its first pass. I know sometimes you get a stronger one from the factory, but something is just wrong with this car, lol.

BTW great seeing you all yest we had a good time

I believe it was actually Sleeper's first time ever at the track with this car. 60ft launches as we all know would def take a lil practice. Plus his car was loaded up with the spare tire, jack and Boombox he told me which I said he needs to remove next time. So yes I believe we will see much better times in the future as will Jody(Two tires with rims in the trunk /w jack he told me) with their BEASTS!

They are my Boyz but they are a little Green! Too much junk in their trunks while dragracing!!

First off...........Enzom, great et and incredible trap speed. It's hard to believe your bone stock (-PS2's).

As far as sleeperx's times.............. they sound pretty good to me. An et of 11.5 is impressive and a trap speed of 122mph is right in the range you would expect.

No sweat. I take it off for my burnout and then put it back on before I stage.

You saw my first run?!! I looked over at the stands when I was staging and did not see very many people.

I really wish that I had time to hang out and get to meet everyone.

The track was great yesterday. I overheard someone say that there was a negative DA yesterday before we started running.

I don't think that she can go any faster than this. Maybe if I had run with a 1/4 tank instead of a 1/2 tank of gas, I could have shaved a few hundreth's off. But I won't lose sleep over it.

But I really would like all 55 owners who hit the track to do what I do and see if it improves their times.

1. Do the "sneaky" ECU reset when you are waiting in the staging lanes.
2. Lower rear tire pressure to 22 lbs. Set suspension to Comfort.
3. Burnout in the waterbox with ESP off - It will allow the tires to spin more before ESP intercedes (you can never fully turn off ESP except in DYNO mode.)
4. Turn ESP back on.
5. Stage - DO NOT PRELOAD. just keep your foot on the brake (Chiromikey concurs)
6. Be patient at the tree. Forget the other guy.
7. When you are ready to go, completely let off the brake and when you feel the car start to inch forward, roll into the gas hard.
8. Hang on.

I really think that this technique is worth 2/10's over what I used to do at the track - cheap dry burnout and pre-loading to leave at 1,000 plus rpm.

Thanks, Rock - and all of you guys.

Even I am having trouble believing I am stock. I think the dealer may have swapped pulley's on me at some point. I broke her in the right way.

I agree that Sleeper X's time is impressive. More than 3/10s and 4 mph is noticeable at the track. I think where you will really see a difference is in the time and speed between the 1/8th and the 1/4.

As for stuff in his trunk, let's face it - our cars are not lightweights. Without the boombox, his car is still going to weigh about 4,400 lbs.

Ok so you have a super quick stock 55 ... dude what are you waiting for, get stage 1 and 2 on that machine. If the average beast runs low 12's (average launch time as well) then where would you be with more power??? What if you have a TB also?

Enzom,
Very, very impressive time. We have your last run on video and will post it today. You have one very fast car my friend. I am glad that we got there in time to see you run.

Yes, I also expected my times to be quicker than this.... Maybe its time to shed some weight... Having said that, I am not sure how much faster this car will run considering that the fastest time that I have seen for an E55 running without NOS is 11.341 (RFLOW). My time yesterday was 11.515, which is about 0.174 seconds slower. I have experienced differences greater than this at the track in my own 1/4 mile times on many occasions simply because of bad launches.. Also, keep in mind that I was using street tires..
We shall see.. And yes, Rflow I am coming for the title (as least the non-NOS) title...

I thought E-town only allowed water burn-outs with slicks. They said street tires drag some water down the track. I was there Friday night. Was the only E63-E55 there. At least until 9pm

Great writeup! Thanks!
btw, when you sy roll into the gas hard, do you mean slam it or gradually (but fast). It feels like I get better response when I gradually press down.
I'll have to try to lower the rear pressure and do confort suspension.
I take it your Transmission was in S-mode and you shifter all the way down to 1?

first off, no disrespect intended.

122mph is definitely in the range i would expect and while 11.51 is impressive it's not as quick as i was hoping for...which is the reason i asked about his launch.

enzom and i use the same launch technique so maybe that's where i get my times from but as lowly stage 3 i'm only running .09s behind him on street tires out here in phoenix, az. this is on a slippery track with a VERY poor da on our best days. my mph is only 119 so you can see why i expected a quicker time from his car/mods on that track...especially if da was in the negative for this event.

so sleeper...get that junk out of your trunk (lol) and set a new record for an n/a e55!!!

The 11.515 was on regulars radials that is an awesome time in my book . The more power you make the harder it becomes to turn good times on factory rubber. That is the fastest regular radial pass that i have seen posted. I believe dje55 had r- compound tires for his fastest passes. I have seen a few low sixty's posted but not a 50 on stock rubber. My best pass on the 20's with pulley, ecu and headers was 11.91 at 121 a while ago so I personally think your car is very fast.

It would be all good if any MB world-er beats my time. We need some 11.00's to 11 teens and maybe if God is your co-pilot and the conditions are just right on that day a 10.99.

There are a few cars here that are more than capable, some just need motivation. I don't want to mention any names to protect the innocent, but one of the guys names rhymes with lock.

Yeah, I had road racing R-Compound tires on it when I made my fastest pass of 11.38. I did run an 11.5 with a 1.66 60' time on hard stock rubber. I was pleased because I had never broken into the 1.6's in the 60' with hard rubber. Most of you guys that have ever been to the track know what I'm talking about.

I think SleeperX's times are awesome as well. Weight will make a difference in our car for sure. Loose some of the poundage you had in your trunk and your in the 11.4's.

Nice runs again enzom. Not too many guys are able to run 118mph stock so be happy you got a healthy one. On the other hand, not too many guys can get them out of the hole that well either. Nice job bro!

i too would like to hear more about the tranny mode ie S and let it do its thing?

Also you say do a burnout, can we have more details, such as how long, and do you hold it in first gear in M? As in my '05, i cant ride the brake and do a burnout at the same time, the ecu cuts all power and it bogs straight down. My only option is to floor it and let it spin up as i pull away (unless i use dyno mode)

I go back and forth about modding the car. I won't do anything this year. I will consider it next year.

I think now that Englishtown is enforcing a rule that anything under 11.5 requires a cage. Not sure if that is true. If it is, then it would keep me from going all out like Sleeper and others.

It isn't quite a slam, but I am full throttle in less than 1/2 second.

Transmission was in S. I left the car in D and let it shift for itself. The 55 series cars start in first gear when in S mode. I've noticed that my shifts seem to be marginally quicker. Maybe the ecu reset did that.
