Hi. I'm looking to pull the trigger on a 2005 E55 with under 15,000 miles. I'm looking at a few from both dealers and private parties. I'd like to spend 60 or under, but as expected, dealer asking prices are quite a bit above this. My question is if anyone has any experience with how much a dealer is likely to move on their asking prices. Is getting a 66,000 asking price for a purchase price of 60,000 realistic? I'm in SoCal, so perhaps this might impact things a bit.

Thanks.

I bought a BRAND NEW wagon in December for $73K...... $66K is obscene. Even if you have to buy outside of SoCal and ship.

Oh and....

Yeah, I might have to take a trip to 'neckville to get a decent deal. Oh, and don't worry, Big Boy is still sitting at the palace with his blower and methanol injection ready to cover for anything the E55 can't handle.

It all depends on whether you are interested in the CPO warranties which will extend the factory warranty another 12 months. If you don't really care, you have more negotiating room and the dealer will be willing to drop the price down more.

I just purchased a 2004 E55 with 31K miles, CPO, with everything except pano roof, and was able to talk him down 3900. The dealer would have been willing to go down more if the CPO warranty was off the table. Hope this helps!

No mystery...the issue was how much negotiating room there was with the dealer. Stayed with CPO warranty and paid 56K

$6k off a used sticker is a little much to be asking for, but $66k for a this particular car seems a bit high as well...you're in the right range for that vehicle at $60k, but the dealer isnt...odds are they've got $63k wrapped up in it and are trying to get a little out of it.
