Totally bummed with new HRE’s

I was very happy on Thursday when the new HRE’s (597r) were delivered and could not wait to have them installed today. I had Bridgestone RE050A’s installed. The fronts are 19x9 with 255/35. They fit perfect even lowered to zero with the ELM. The rears are 19x10 with 285/30. The tires rub the finders with any big bump in the road, at full height with the ELM turned off. I thought these tires would fit without rubbing based on many posts I have read here. This sucks after waiting 6 weeks for the wheels. Don’t know what to do now. I guess HRE will have to redo the offset…looks like another 6 weeks on the OEM’s…

They shouldn't rub at all. I am running 20" 10.5" rears with no rubbing. Where did you buy them? HRE builds them based on the spec provided by the dealer (place you bought them), not the car. Which means, HRE didn't F-up, your dealer did.

Hre issue's

Can someone tell me if this setup will work on an 03 E55. There 19x9's all around with a 245/35 ET29 Front and a 265/30 ET34 on the rear?

Yo Greg: what is the offset? Where does it rub? Is it on the outside?

I don't know the offset. I was counting on the "experts" that sold me the wheels to know the proper offset. It rubs on the outside.

20+ to list......
Sounds like a refund is demanded. Sometimes those dealers think they know them all......

Just don't drive too much on them and I think HRE can swab out the barrels pretty quickly. Let us know if you can get the offsets, so we can tell how far off you are.

If the rear offset is any less than ET38 it will rub with 285/30/19 on a 9.5 and 10"wheel with a lowered suspension. Ask HRE what offset they supplied and they have to tell you.
I bet it's something stupid like ET31.

Hi,

If you do refund the rims and would like to unload the tires, please let me know. I would not mind picking them up.

there are 2 serial numbers on the inside of the wheel, on the hub.

post them up here and you will find out the offset.

I have seen both 35 and 31 offsets on 20in x10wide wheels work great with 285-25-20 tires.

From what I can figure out, they shouldn't be rubbing unless if the offset is WAAAY off. You have lots of room. Also, I assumed an et35 rear, when drawing up the sketch. Keep in mind that you are running about 2% taller tire than OEM, so that may be playing a role. My testing is strictly on 18s.

Surely not on a lowered car? 285 titre on 9.5" ET38 leaves 3mm gap with the fender, so ET31 would leave 4mm of side wall rubber behind every time the car bottoms out.
ET35 would just squeeze in with a 10" wheel due to steeper angle of the side wall than on the 9.5" wheel.

As Dragon mentioned, HRE is not a direct retailer so you bought them from a store right? I do know a few peeps who got there wheels directly thru HRE but that was a "one off". Where did you get them??

Any pics?

+1

Both cars are on the lowest ELM settings and tucking tire.

Yes but arent both those cars on 20's with 285x25 tires?? I think Rafal is talking about 285x30x19's ...

I believe they are Vic. The 285/25/20's are still 12mm taller than the 19's. So if the 20's don't have issues the 19's shouldnt?

Please elaborate on what we're debating between the two sizes. I'm getting confused.

I bought them through a retailer. I don't know who is at fault. I don't want to bash anyone either. I just want them fixed. The rears rubbed bad enough that I had to take them off yesterday. Right now I'm riding around on OEM rears with HRE fronts. I'm sure you can imagine how nice that looks.

That makes 2 sets of HREs that were just released with the wrong rear offset (too agressive in both cases). Just for the record, they were from 2 different vendors.
IMO the rears should be closer to et42 for a 10" width.
