everone has there opinion but i think the 25 series looks to small. my tire guy who has done every combo you can think of also said our cars are to heavy for a 25 series tire you WILL bend a rim. with 30 series you still MIGHT bend one. so with that info and not realy likin the 25 series i went 275/30/20. if i change my rims im gonna look into jangys offset ideas but untill them 30 series

thanks for the help, I like how the 25series makes the rear rim look, i do agree they they are really thin, and i could imagine bending wheels really easy with the 25series...and id prob drive alot slower and more carefull with 25series...i still need more opinions or personal thoughts...thanks

I'm running 25 in the back and it looks good when you lower the car a lot. Now the ride obviously is rougher do to it being so thin, potholes are a b!tch!

I have 25 on the back, daily driver in SF... as long as you keep your eyes on potholes you should be fine.
Ride, as expected, is on the harsh side. But coming from a 997, I'm used to it.

I've got 285/25/20's they look sic when the car is lowered, but the ride sucks and depending on the rimm you WILL eventually bend one, or both like me. This is a all show and no go rimm and tire set up period!

sup bro.
I had previously, stock 18s on brand new Ps2 tires. stock sizes but with a 275 rear vs the 265s
i just got jay55's set
black hre 840s 20" 285/25/20 with those pzero neros...
THe ride is MUCH smoother then my stock 18's with the ps2s... Feels alot more smooth and less bumpy. I also had my car lowered and this is still the response i give you..

Is It Worth Giving Up Comfort For Looks, To Ride The 285-25 For You Guys, Or If You Could Do It Again Would You Ride 275-30 Rears?
#14
For me, somehow I love the harsher ride the 25 gives... been having 275/30 on so many cars so I opted for change.
At least it gives me the "feeling" of a better handling, just like when I'm palying with my M5.

mogz so your saying fu*k it just get the 285-25...my last set which was like 2 months ago had 275-30`s and it was very very CHILL, but Im afraid of the outcome with the 285-25`s although i think it looks SICK, but the tire look so damn thin its scarry. I think id have to drive my E55 like an E350

I went with the 285/25/20 on my HRE's and the ride isn't all that bad at all. If you want the looks you'll have to say puck it and go with the 25 series. The only problem with the 285/25/20 is the tires choices... very limited. I went the Yoko Advan Sport.

the ride is not bad i guess from what you all say, but i DROVE an sl550 today with 305-25`s in the rear i beleive those are thicker in the sidewall then the 285-25 and the ride felt really unsafe like the car is un reliable on the tires...i hate this because i need to make a choice 11AM friday, and as of now i want the 275-30 for the better ride but want the 285-25 for the look, my tire guy already got me toyo t1r 285-25-20`s but i could chang eit up before 11-12...Should i be afraid of the 285-25-20 or is the bad size, and ride just a hyped up thing and it really isnt all that bad

I'm not trying to start a fight but i think your way off! theres no way in hell your set up rides smoother than stock! I think your just trying to convince yourself it is to make yourself feel better about spending the money. Dude I just took my stockers w/ ps2's off 4 days ago from winter driving and now have my 20's with pzero POS neros and the ride is way harsher.
NO WAY!
NO WAY!

my guess is we would have a hard time feelin the difference in 25 and 30 series tires but according to my tire/rim guy our rims will for sure feel the defference. once you bend one and its outta balance you are not gonna like the ride anymore. also im not sure but wouldnt the rear 25 series be smaller than the front? not sure but that would look silly. just by lookin at my car right now the tire side walls are the same or close to my eye. the 25 series would look/be smaller than the front, thats not right to me!
Im picking up my wheels at 3 or 4 today, FINALLY my guy has the 285-25`s ready to mount for me, but I might want to call him last second and ask for a 275-30

The ride is rougher on 285/25/20 but you play then there's a price you pay. Just keep your eyes on the road. I'd still roll with 25 series cuz of its aggressive look if I get another set of 20s.
