Stock vs Stock, both cars are very close in performance. The E55 maybe at most 0.1 to 0.2 faster (on average) in 1/4 mile, but E63 is probably 0.1 to 0.2 faster in 1/2 mile.
At Atco, when both cars ran on the same track and same day, Oldgixxer's E63 ran a best of 12.1 and Enzom's E55 ran a best of 11.9. However, Enzom's car has PS2 tires instead of stock Conti's and wider width than stock in the rear (275). I believe if Oldgixxer moves to PS2 instead of continentals and maybe a little wider as well, then he'll definately break into the 11's also.
But once the E55 is modified, bye bye 63. So, it all depends on what you want.

E55 vs E63 Data
Guys, lets calm down and put this in perspective a bit. Stock vs Stock, both cars are within 0.1 to 0.2 from each other. That has been confirmed by AMGFEST06 and others. Here are some personal data, I've collected from going to the track events.......
At California Speedway, Famoso, and Sacramento, all the stock E55s and E63s that ran side by side scored almost identical numbers.....
At Fontana (same day runs for both cars):

Best Stock E55 run: 12.9 @ 107 mph
Best Stock E63 run: 12.7 @ 112 mph
At Famoso (also same day runs)
========================
It was a 98 F, very humid, and high DA.
Best Stock E55 run (with filters): 13.1 @ 106 mph
Best Stock E63 run (stock filters): 12.9 @ 110 mph
and yes, the E55 had just replaced the IC pump a month prior to the event.
At Sacramento (same day runs for both cars):

Best Stock E55 run: 12.25 @ 117 mph
Best Stock E63 run: 12.54 @ 114 mph
At Atco (same day runs for both cars):
=============================
Best Stock E55 run: 11.9 @ 118 mph (with PS2 and wider tires)

Now if you take averages of all runs in each event, the times become even closer and closer.
But again, once the E55 goes modified, the E55 kills the E63.

From limited seat time the suspension and brakes on the 63 are a good improvement as are the looks. 7-speed likely helps up top but the ratios should be more tuned towrds performance. However, the only one that would hand an M5 its *** is a modded 55k. Otherwise it's as close as to make no difference and a case of different strokes for different folks.
