Moron worker dropped a cabinet on my hood!

Ugh. Long story short - I've got 2 decent dents in the hood I need to get repaired. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to access the area from the underside of the hood, AND there is a little paint damage, so I think basic "paintless dent repair" is out of the question.

I've never had to get body/paint work done on any of my "nice" cars before. Should I take it in to my local Mercedes dealer, or can any competant repair place fix it? The worker/company has insurance so they will be paying for it. I'm thinking I should just ask for a new painted hood from MB ...

Pics, please.

If they will pay, going through the dealer will provide a better paint match, IMO.

My experience tells me that you'd be better off with a good reputable independent body shop instead of going through your dealer (they sub-contract the repair to their own body shop or other body shops anyways).

Where are you located?

I would only go to the dealer if they had their own body shop. If they do check on the reputation.

Dealer bodyshops are the training grounds for the folks that eventually move to the good independents.........

Find where the local high end car clubs take their cars - Porsche, etc. there's bound to be a good high end shop around. My local MB dealer refers to 4 different local shops.

My dealer hacked my car so badly that it would cost another 2K to get my beast fixed properly.

That was one of the reasons why I got rid of my beast. I was actually very happy with the car, until the body shop laid their hands on it. Tons of uneveness (bulbs, drips, smudges, clear started peeling <1 year after getting fixed), and my front fender doesn't line up with the bumper (looks like they forgot to put a clip on). There were a ton of overspray on the car (actaully there was two huge visible patch on the hood :eek) I'm taking these crooks to court after I've recoup all my losses from the instigator of the accident.

As others have said, find out where the Lambos, Ferraris and P-Cars are getting worked on and take your beast there. That way, you'd be sure you're getting the best deal for your beast.
