Video: Mercedes E55 AMG Kompressor vs BMW Alpina B5
#226
I have this to share as this post has taken on a dangerously personal nature wit the attacks.
I love car videos but more importanylt I like hanging out with friends who have all manner of highly modded and fast cars_AMG's M5's GT2' Z06...the lot
I appreciate what Gustav is trying to do with the videos. Its definatly a start. They could be used as a template for futur vidoes . How many of us have read car magazines right stories about our cars which come noting close to the truth about how they really handle. I read one about how teh Z06 lost to the 997Turbo even though the Z06 was faster.
My point is this
-we get to watch videos and not read just kill stories
-we get to debate from what we see
We might not beleive what we see but at least over here in the States nobody can pull the wool over our eyes as most of us are seasined drivers. I mean if you're driving an E55AMG or M5 or M6 you must be at least hardcore.
So my position has always been to watch the videos, analyze them and make my own conclusions.
I don't think we should start name calling or banning people who post in different forums
None of us is getting paid by BMW/AMG for driving these cars...(or maybe some of are) so why fight over it
Let Ygones be Bygones and just take what you see with a grain of proverbial salt.
I for one don't beleiev that I have the fastest car out there.none of us do! But we have some seriously fast rides that very few cars on the road can beat. So lets just enjoy the vidoes until we make our own and not take them so personally.
Sorry for the long post. Its just that I have good friends here and on the M5 board and we meet up (AMG's +M5's +M6) all the time without any problems whatsoever. We just had a meet this sunday which went very well.
So guys keep the gun powder dry
Cheers

Wait til Ed and John get their M5's back from the body shop. We will get plenty of vids showing real life encounters. GUstav will **** his pants when he sees it. Lets see who can predict the length of time it takes Gustav to delete the thread after its posted

Let me guess: you'll run it against a "friend" of yours in a BMW-provided M6, from the the not-at-all-chosen-by-chance speed of 50 km/h, with your parking brake on, right?

You guys are so damned hypocritical it's ridiculous(You and Kees)! How I'd also love to post some of your confrontational, and unfriendly PM's you've sent me.

Om my god. I am amazed how agitated many of you Benz guys get from Gustavs event and all this talk about being banned for this and that. Come on guys, is this the way you usually solve problems with other people, do you act like this in real life or is it just all your ego's getting boosted behind your computer screens?? Put down your aggressiveness (goes for everyone) and by asking politely for more info on the vids would get you better responses from Gustav. And don't start with "he did it first". Wy don't you be the first "to turn the other cheek".
I can say that Gustav has posted the same videos on the Scandinavian Mercedes forum and the response is not even close to the one here. Responses are more like, Great job, when can we see more. I am just amazed of how well Gustav has put all this people together for the event and I applaud you for that.
Who really gives a f u c k wether the BMW is somewhat faster at higher speeds??? Excuse my "french"
Cheers to all!

So as a result I think you should know his WHOLE history and other members here who have dual membership and own both BMW's and AMG's before coming around here for the first time with needless banter about what you expect members here to do.. JMOP.
Cheers to you!

Seriously, borand: I think expecting us all to act like sheep in the face of gustav's egegious behavio (banning members for doing the same thing there that he does here, blatantly fibbing about the reasons for doing it, etc etc etc, not to mention his staging of races such that they start at the exact speed at which the M5/M6 engine's torque is peaking and the E55's are falling off, is somewhat ludicrous.
Have a look at the threads "gustav the hypocrite" in this forum and "here's a nice video for you, gustav" in the kill stories forum for an example of this behavior, and then it might start to sink in.
Also, just curious: did you happen to go over to the m5 board and admonish gustav about his behavior here, or are you only interested in singling out those who get offended by it? Helpful hint: blaming the victim is not going to get you very far around here.

Maybe I do not know the whole history (as I am a newbie to this forum and M5board for that matter), I just followed this thread so I am sorry if you feel that I am misinterpreting the situation. Apart from that I am still amazed how involved and agitated people get when seeing there beloved car getting beat in a race and try to find all reasons for this not being possible. For me personally, I am just loving great sports cars, basically no matter what make, but that's my personal opinion. Who is banning who and for what I do not really care, all I am really interested in is getting a friendly atmosphere between members no matter what car you own. And I am pretty sure you all are too.
Actually, in a couple of weeks I will do a race with a colleague of mine who has the M5 E60, we both have stock cars so then at least I will know for sure the "true" story. We will try to do races from both a dig and rolling at different speeds. However I do not have camera to verify it with.
BTW Improviz, must say I love your signature picture

Even though I love the airfield event I still think the racersults seen are odd as compared with a real comparison by an objective! mag gives the following results (other mags post similar results). Plus the gear changes in the race for the E55 sound wierd, like in comfort mode???:

Don't worry we'll have the videos soon young man!!! Perhaps we can even create a few when you reach here in NY! We'll be waiting if not at the airport. Bring all your video equipment!
I would sure love to make a vid of my AMG vs M5Deamon's E39 M5! I left him a post over there on your beloved sight..

We have scientifically conducted road tests from both your side of the pond and ours which show that the to-speed numbers for the Apina aren't better than those of an E55k.
Just another in a long line of suspect videos from Gustav, Inc.

Whatever keys I grab first...
I do hope I have the pleasure of meeting Gustav here in California. I have a little 65 that wouldn't mind doing some dirty work. It's stock, and I'm willing to bet it would STILL rip into your little "kellener M6".
