lol.....they remove m5 posts when the m5 gets smoked.......too funny......I'm sooooo glad that this site is usually not a "flame" war type site. Actually this is one of FEW the threads I've read on here that seemed aimed at starting s*%t.....no commentary, just a link to the video and a "what's up" smiley face....

Problem is most people here are car enthusiast's and have respcet for the M cars. Some even have both AMG and M cars.I myself might be buying an M5 too go along with the E55.He on the other hand is very narrow minded and childish when it comes to his board,as with a few other on his site. Those people tend to be the ones that bought the M car from a brouchure at the dealer and are completely convinced its the best thing on the road. They tend to hide behind magazine artilce's about their cars and give up more excuses than a politician when proven other wise. There are some decent people on that site, but dealing with his crap is not worth it oo be on that board.

Ill be banned if Ill post a video here so I that is censorship
I've learned that if you post something that he doesnt like it will be gone very quickly. Anything negative about a BMW and you get a warning about how you are going to get banned and your post wont last very long!!! Then they come back with an anti benz statement that stays up. You cant win!!!

Yeah its called gearing ... point is he depicts videos constructed to take maximum advantage of this in his comparos. We know our cars are "weak" >120mph and we know the M's are weak 0-100mph ... So he chooses to show where his cars are stronger ... fair enuf I guess he needs to make up for the fact that in 95% of daily use and encounters his car is at a disadvantage. We tend to concentrate on qtr mile....
How about meeting in the middle and doing a standing 1km dash as I said before ... it should surely be long enuf for the M's gearing to take hold no?
Overall though I think its a real waste he goes to all this trouble of putting these events together and does not do different comparo's... Have to thank him doing this anyway I guess!!
In a 1 mile straight away at an AMG event we got a CLS55 up to the limiter from standstill before we had to brake ... 4 large occupants in car. We did it 4 times - each driver had a go ... good fun ...
We would not have been able to do this in an M as tranny would not have had enuf time to recover...

Maybe in Europe highway rolls are cool (because they can). In the US hitting 250kmh is not going to happen often (especially in LA). In the states its running from one redlight to the next which clearly rewards cars with a USEABLE torque and HP band ala AMG.
At the end of the day, you can probably assume that in Europe the right weapon of choice (M or AMG) for top speed highway runs is the M cars. Highreving v10 with great gearing works in that scenario. In the US standing starts and quick blast to 100-120mph (who's counting) is the most common scenario for runs (90% of the time).
Which makes me wonder why someone would buy an M car for street duty in the US? Is it because they want a car they can take to the track too? If so, I don't get it. Are they assuming this grocery getter is capable of doing it all? Maybe they like a generalist approach. For me I would want a specialist for each scenario. Example: Street: Big Torque/comfortable/attractive Weekend car: Turbo (of the Pcar persuasion)/ 2 seater/ aggressive Track: (Most would say a Pcar or some other tin top. To me that is a very expensive way to go slow!) Make mine a Radical SR3 or 8

The E55 AMG was definetly goign 100%.
The Alpina B5 has the same engine as the Alpina B7, which is sold in the USA.

I don't know about all these staged races. It seems that every race that has an M5, starts from a certain MPH at certain speeds, rolling starts, blah, blah.... Always a Perfect Storm scenario. Whatever happened to just racing from a dig? I do know that i absolutely destroyed an Alpina B7 awhile back at some traffic lights, back to back to back. I posted about it a couple of weeks ago.
It also seems that Gustav just can't resist the constant urge to justify owning an M5. Inferiority complex anyone? I've never seen someone go out of their way for so long (years) trying to prove to others why _____ car is better/faster, etc.. than _____ car. The M5 is a great car just like the E55, leave it at that already, jeez. Those who bought one could afford the other, so who cares.

Ok so M5's are slow from a stop because they have no torque or something? But this race was with a stock B5. It has plenty torque. The same as an E55 in fact. So why would a rolling start be a disadvantage in this particular case? Don't shoot the dumb troll that is me, I'm just asking a question as I don't follow the logic.
And I believe in good old Sweden the M5's have the 4500rpm Euro launch control so they launch pretty well. Gustav, I know the owners of these fine machinery want to save their drivetrain's & most of the races in Europe are not standing starts but autobahn encounters, BUT, I really think you should do some standing starts as well. Just to make everyone happy. I don't think it will make much of a difference as over such a long distance the more powerful car will inevitably work its way to the front. There's nowhere to hide over a mile. Horsepower will prevail.

Now you can't tell me the Kellener M5 is going to walk the 65 at any speed. I know the gearing has to be different on the s65. Now cars don't walk each other unless one has 900+ hp.
