Its hard to say which is fast. I've been told M5 is faster and some say no its the E63 and back and forth. I'm sure the M5 will pull away from a roll, just remember V10!! and E63 V8. Engine size matters but its pretty much the gear ratios. Correct me if I am wrong.

Who knows what Mercedes will bring us ... E65?

Yeah, that's partially wrong. The M's V10 is smaller than the E63's engine. Much like the Mercedes V12 is smaller than the Vipers V10. A greater number of cylinders does not make it a larger engine. You have to look at the actual displacement of the engine to determine it's size.

Oh, God will this ever end...........

Ok, on paper all three cars are close.

In real world, the production difference between cars creates different results between street races. Through in driver abilities and ......................

Now add go-fast goodies to 55 and now it is a whole different ball game..........

Al I can say.. no matter how you slice and dice it..

stock vs stock

M5 SMG3 is faster.. than E55 and E63..

it traps higher and gets to 150 alot faster..

from a dead stop or 0 to 60 or to 100.. or rolling.. might have various outcomes..

It does not matter. The M5 traps higher.

I don't know were your getting those numbers from the E63. Here is the numbers from Autoweek.

E63 M5

0-150MPH

23.3 23.4

0-60MPH

4.2 4.5

Torque

465 383

As far as the STREET. I have raced three of them two were SMG3 and they have lost from 2-5 cars. One of them is a friend of mine and he knows how to drive. We have ran at least twenty times with the E on top 75% of the time.
We even did a 40MPH roll till i hit the limiter at 150+ With the E winning by four cars.

Vadim is right. There are a lot of factors that should be accounted for.

Autoweek does not test to 150mph. Show me the link please.

I hate to put links up.. but you obviously think the E63 in invinsible.
the times you posted are for a 6 manual.. and I specifically said SMG3
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...ighlight=0-150

I don't care about 0-60 to 0-100... show me trap speed and 0-150.

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...45/bmw-m5.html

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...z-e63-amg.html

look here:
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...ighlight=0-150

and finally...show me any respectable american mag article for E63 and E55 trapping 118 and covering 0-150 less than 21 seconds and I'll hand you the keys to my rental property.

I hate to come off as a M5 lover, which i'm obviously not. But just becuase you raced your friend in 1 M5 does not mean the E63 is faster as a whole.

I was at the Fontana event in person and I saw for my own eyes that M5 and M5 trap much higher stock per stock than any E55 or E63.

Your saying two different things. only one is true
1. M5 is faster to 150?(maybe)
2. Now the M5 suddenly traps 118 I assume you are talking 1/4 mile?

M5 does not outperform either the E55 or E63 in the 1/4 mile.
You may have an argument to 150, 186 etc but the M5 is not faster in the 1/4.

There are plenty of video examples from the Euroelites event showing the M5's getting raped on the 1/4 mile drag. M5 is very similar in performance but it is a terrible 1/4 mile car due to launch troubles. It may trap 118 in EUROPE but not here in the USA

true, but I wouldnt call 2-3 mph "much" higher. The 55's were quicker, even with very poor weather and track surface conditions.

Let's not confuse quick with fast.

The numbers are from SMG3. Look at your sources( M5 Board & C&D ) What would you expect to find there? I am not here to argue this point but from the street runs i have had with them i see it alot different.

I don't care about 0-60 to 0-100... show me trap speed and 0-150.

Why wouldn't you care about these numbers Most street runs are within these areas. Trap speed in the quater can be affected buy wheelspin lets see the whole slip.

and finally...show me any respectable american mag article for E63 and E55 trapping 118 and covering 0-150 less than 21 seconds and I'll hand you the keys to my rental property.

The NUMBERS i posted were 23.3 23.4 not 21 seconds.

I hate to come off as a M5 lover, which i'm obviously not. But just becuase you raced your friend in 1 M5 does not mean the E63 is faster as a whole.

I have ran 3 of them not only my friends SMG3.

I was at the Fontana event in person and I saw for my own eyes that M5 and M5 trap much higher stock per stock than any E55 or E63.[/QUOTE]

Hp wins races not torque. The E55 is slow. I have raced many 55’s and beat them all by at least 20 car lengths to 150.

I agree with your point.

"much higher" was a bit too strong.

The M6 was a bit faster than the M5 on that day too.. (The M6 was barely broken in)

I'm officially taking off my "GUSTAV" cape and will stop defending the opposition.

The M5 is slower than a Ford Pinto.
