We were expecting that it worked fine because all of the tests were done with a 175mm pulley. You will have to check on your car and see if it is ok.. If not, I will cover the cost of a replacement belt and you can ship that one back to me.
I'll post a link for you guys tonight.
Sorry about the belt issue Michael.. We had no idea this would be a problem.

Yep, Vadim is doing my install right now. Can't wait to see final results. Nice meeting you Vadim and I am happy I just found my new mechanic.

My tech (Peter at HP Autowerks in Santa Barbara) got my kit installed the other day. A couple of interesting points:
1) The engine cover had to be notched to clear one of the pullies.
2) The secondary tensioner wouldn't fit. Belt was too tight and not enough movement in the stock tensioner to get it on.
3) The fan shroud did not have to be removed for installation.
We're going to try to dyno tomorrow evening. The VRP belt wrap kit is the only change we've made to the car since it's last dyno, so we should get some decent data.

2004 E55 AMG and 2003 C320 4Matic Miss my 993 Turbo above!!
Could you please expand on your comment about the secondary tensioner? So, it did not go on as part of your install??
Is that not part of the WHOLE package??

As fot the secondary tensioner not fitting, did your tech try to install a larger belt.

Venom & Vadim- will you ask your mechanic if they have to remove the fan assembly to access the pulleys. also, please note if there are any other fit problems on sl55 with asp pulleys.

Frank... It looks like it depends on the water pump pulley.. If it turns out to be too short, you pick up a belt locally, I'll cover the cost and you can just ship back the one you are getting with the kit.
So far we know the following combinations DONT work:
- Kleemann water pump pulley + ASP Crank pulley
- Evotech 175mm pulley + Evotech water pump pulley
Mike.. Never received anything in Hotmail.. I sent you back a PM.
I will get you an extra belt with the kit.

Don.. The tensioner should fit with no problems. No one has had a problem fitting it.. can you take a pic or try to explain what exactly the issue was ?
Also, the engine cover doesnt need to be notched.. I am a little worried by some of these comments because I am not sure what the tech was looking at..
Can you please take some pics for me so I can get a better understanding of the issues he had.
Thank you.

Guys... It's now been confirmed by 3 different installs with combinations of ASP pullies... Those of you that are running an ASP pulley will need a longer belt.. Finny & I are still trying to figure out this anomaly..
In the meantime, those of you who already received kits, you will need a longer belt.. GATES Part #K080560HD. Please purchase the belt locally and I will reimburse you.. Just ship me back the belt I sent out.
We apologize for this inconvenience in having to get longer belts and appreciate everyones input. This is what we need in order to ensure that the product gets better & better.
