My slow E55 for the love of god help!!!

So my E55 is a wonder. It's fast on its own terms... kind of like, "dammit i'll go as fast as i damn well please"...

At times, the vehicle chirps left and right and others, it's a bit of a C-Class at heart, no pun intended to the entry level drivers. Anyways, I floor it, it goes like a bullet. I let go of the gas, slow down switch a lane or two and hop on the throttle again and the car revs high and goes nowhere. It seriously feels like a C230.

Is it just my E55, or do all E55s not like getting pushed more then once every say ten minutes?

And I'm also limited at a "blistering" 142... wtf?

I had high hopes for this car but thus far... I think I should have bought a Corolla. Someone please help. Explain.

How sure are you it's the Intercooler Pump? Pretty much, I want to make sure I don't look like a jacka$$ when I go to the dealer and tell them what's wrong, and they don't find anything...

If you guys are right, I'll be eternally thankful!

Believe us, they won't "find anything".

Some guys have gotten them swapped out with no trouble, but many have to put up a fight. Tech will almost certainly take it out and report, "no problems". Then hook it up to STAR and again say "no codes, no problems"

Gotta fight um and say it is happening a LOT. Dramatic loss of power etc.

It's a common common problem with the 55's.

Also forgot to check where you live. If you are running it in 100+ heatwave and then hard, good chance she is gonna give you grief.

Hope we helped a little.

Ah, a common problem. Great. I just had my cracked supercharger replaced, and now it's back to the dealer.

I live in Fullerton. 90s. Ish.

Thanks a bunch guys, hopefully I can get this blasted IC pump changed.

Any more details on that cracked SC deal?

Oh, and one more question...

Would a bad IC pump affect my top speed, which as it says above, is currently 142?

The dealer had no explantion other then, "Hey, it happens." I got the car back on Tuesday, and seems I have to take it in again. The coolant leak and oil leak were basically given the same explanation. "Hey, you know, sometimes, in life, we get dealt bad hands, and you know, ummm were sorry...?"

All I know was, it was bad. The coolant somehow leaked into my supercharger, and I'm guessing that's how the supercharger got f'd up. The oil leak... I have no clue.

+1.

I told the service rep exactly what to do and had him wright it down. They took care of it no problem.

State significant power loss at acceleration due to supercharger shutting down. They should be able to take the temp readings and figure it out. They all know what's going on.

I just brought my 06 back from service to have this issue looked at. I didn't have much time in the morning to go over what to look for in terms of the power loss (obligations at work). I went to pick up the car after work and lo and behold, "could not duplicate problem"
Ish. Anyone know an SA in the Boston area willing to investigate my power loss? Thanks

I think I have the same problem, but knowing that those stock IC pumps are problematic instead of having the dealer put another stock one I've been thinking of upgrading it to a better aftermarket one.

The easiest way to guarantee that the tech will find a problem is to take him for a ride yourself. Mine went in several times with the same excuse,"worked fine for me and there are no fault codes". After 2-3 times of this I simply went out and ran the **** out of it near the dealership until the IC pump failed. Went back and took the tech for a quick ride. His reply was basically "This thing's a dog. I see why you're pissed, we'll fix it immediately". My new pump has been in for over a year with no hint of failure. Also, a bad IC pump can dramatically lower your top end. If you're planning on modding, see if the tech will install a Johnson pump instead of the dealer pump, if you bring him one. He might just be embarrased enough from not not diagnosing the problem to do it for you.
