Talking My New E63 AMG Performance Package.... FINALLY !!

Okay guys, after 3 months of waiting, the car is finally here.

Last Friday, I finally picked up my brand new E63 AMG, and ever since, I haven't been able to stop smiling (or driving) I've already put 500 miles on the car

The E55/E63 has been my dream car for a while, so I can't express enough how excited I am right now... I just can't wait until break-in period is gone

The car is Obsidian Black with black interior and black birdseye wood trim, and the following options:

- P30 Special Edition: AMG Performance Package
- Premium 2 Package
- Parktronic
- Voice Control

And I've already performed my first 2 mods:

1) Painted the inside of the spokes on the rims black (didn't like the all silver look from the factory).

2) Lorinser roof spoiler.

Okay now the good part...... Here are some pictures. The first picture is low quality because I took it with my cell phone when I first got the car, but the others came out okay. Enjoy......

Congrats!

Excellent call on painting the wheel inserts black, I had to take a double take as I thought AMG came out with another wheel for the P30 package. To be honest I too did not care for the P30 wheel all silver, but now they are stunning

I have been debating on whether to add a roof wing but have not seen a single E63 with one (absent the antenna cutout). You may have persuaded me to order one. Where did you get yours? Is is color matched or just black?

Any pics of the interior? Which steering wheel did you get? I am curious as I just orderd a CLK Black wheel which I believe will be the new wheel to come with the P30s.

Thanks everybody for your nice comments, I'm really enjoying every minute behind the wheel of the car.

Yes, these are the stock conti tires, which I don't like too much. Compared to my previous Pilot Sport 2 (that I had on my C32), these tires are crap.

The car feels really strong. It still doesn't have the "slam-your-head-against-the-head-rest" feeling of the E55 from 0 to 35 mph, but after that, it pulls very hard and feels very strong. The car is very POWERFUL and still within the break-in period. Although I am not losing traction from 0 to 35 mph, I am loosing traction from 36 to 50 mph ???? I know it is very strange , and that is NOT even full throttle yet (about 90% or so).

I LOVE the performance package. It's worth every penny. The suspension of the car feels very firm. It seems like the car litterally hugs the road more and more as you go faster and faster I've already taken the car up to 110 mph (I know I'm still under break-in but just couldn't resist).

Stay tuned for my 0-60 times and maybe even 1/4 mile runs.... I am aiming for at least 12.6 but we'll see how it goes...

Yes the color is matched to Obsidian Black, Mercedes Color Code Number 197. I bought the spoiler directly from Lorinser which uses the same color codes as Mercedes and they can match any Mercedes paint (even designo). Give them a call, the spoiler should look really awsome on white...

My steering wheel is slightly different than the one comes with black series. To my understanding, the steering wheel of the 08 performance package is the same as the 07 steering wheel performance package (sales man told me that, but you never know ). I will try to take some pictures of the interior.

I like it!!! Can you tell me how you painted the inside of the spokes? Did you take it to a paint shop? Did you have to use special paint or something, since you are painting wheels? Details please. Thanks ahead for any response.

I actually had the dealer do it for free as part of the deal, but it is very simple paint job and any paint shop should be able to do it for you. The paint used was Mercedes Obsidian Black paint. It is a small change, but makes a BIG difference in looks......

How much firmer is the suspension ?

I assume you have driven a stock 2007 E63..............How much firmer is the performance package suspension then the firmest setting on the regular E63 ? I know it will be great on smooth roads or the track but what about typical bumpy streets and cement freeways ? Does the limited slip differential have any drawbacks on the road in tight turns taken at normal speeds ? I like the new wheels and if anyone has a set available ??? $$$$. Good Luck ! Where are you hiding the radar detector ?

These wheels automatically come with the Performance Package.

Yes I drove regular E63s and yes the suspension is stiffer on the P30 edition. I think AMG quotes that the suspension is about 20% stiffer on P30 models than regular E63. The suspension gives you a lot more feedback from the road, so it is very good for track use, but you may not like it on bumpy and un-even roads. I like to drive on sport mode all the time and don't mind the stiff suspension, but different people like different things. Ultimately, your decision should be based on your overall driving style.
Oh, and I don't have a radar detector yet...
