So, you are talking the older one? Isn't the same as the E55 engine? Either way, I don't think it has 650hp, does it? Personally, I do not like SLRs and would take the CLK any day. I love the body and CF. I was just curious as to performance.

There is go to accompany the show, courtesy of a massaged version of the SL55 AMG's 5.4-liter, supercharged V-8, which now cranks out 574 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Modified cam timing, more boost, a stiffer crankcase, and a new exhaust system help to hike power and torque over the SL55's already useful 493 hp and 516 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a five-speed manu-matic transmission.

clk dtm is a much cooler car...
no offense to people who bought the slr... you just bought the wrong car!
should be faster on a track at the very least.... its actually built to perform...
that, and its like half the price of an slr...

The outcome is not all that surprising. Go back and get the website off of my 1st post and check it out. You will also see the Veyron destroy the SLR.

CLK DTM is also limited production from what i recall and is made by dtm racing division i believe. They are also believed to be working on the next sports car for Mb called the SLC, instead of mclaren
I can not remember his name but the ex Honda f1 driver, the British dude has a CLK DTM , so it must count for some thing

I'm surprised that most Mercedes enthusiasts don't know that CLK DTM and SLR have the same exact 5.5L supercharged engine
SLR: ~620hp, 575lb-ft
CLK DTM: ~580hp, 590lb-ft
The difference in power and torque is due to the different exhaust systems and ecu tune. DTM has less power, but slightly more torque. Overall, it has better power to weight ratio than SLR and is slightly faster. It has gotten much better reviews and most preferred the CLK DTM over the SLR in dual tests. Only about 200 were made, it was also available as convertible.
The orange CLK is a development mule for the new 6.3L engine and is not available for sale.

For starters the slr inter coolers are not there on the DTM from what i can see... also i believe this was a separate project by the DTM team, unless you have other info ?
