650hp 300E Turbo Project

Now this has got to be a fantastic story. I guess the old straight 6 has a lot of potential akin to the 2jz in the Supra! (Maybe a lil exaggeration)

But nonetheless this is a very good project that's been done by a member here:

i thing the 300E has about 180hp

the w211 e55 has 478hp.

now thats not a fair comparison, because the e55 has a supercharger. Remove it and you'll be left with about 380hp.

So... lets summarize.

300E (180hp) + turbo = 650hp
E55 (380hp) + turbo = ?

Why hasn't this been done?

300E has a straight 6 so you have the room to bolt up a nice turbocharger and manifold.
I don't think there is enuff room available in the W210 or W211 body for a turbocharger due to the V8's physical configuration but it sure would be a nice project. Nothings impossible. Would probably have to go with a small twin turbo V6 setup like the Audi "RS" and "S" 4's

Not to mention tricking the ECU and all the electronis involved. It is very complicated, I spoke to Jeffrey and I beleive the best bet would be to go with a stand alone system.

Yep I agree with brother jeff 100%. When you go extreme you sooner or later surpass the capabilities of a stck ECU with extreme mods and have to go standalone like i did with my talon.

There are many different Standalone ECU's. They all allow you too eliminate your stck ECU when your mods exceed it's capabilities.

With the Standalone you can now set the parameters that will allow your engine to function with whatever extreme mods you have. this is only a small explanation by the way.

AME EMS is one of the more popular ones used here in the U.S. Haltech,Tech III,Motronic,Wolff are some others. Look up standalone ECU in wikipedia.com

I'm just too lazy to explain!

The BOOST (turbocharger/supercharger) is the best and easyast way to increase the Hp but it many other parts what makes big different.

I think that M103 (300E engine) is the strongest engine mercedes even builded. Casting iron block and very strong relieble head.
M104 has the same block but other kind of head 24v wich is weaker then M103 12v head.

E55 engine is aluminum and much weaker then M103 and even it does bigger size and 478Hp it can not handle so much Boost as M103 does.

Personaly I dont think that stock E55 can handle more then 14 psi.
With used M103 I boosted 28psi without making any damages of the stock engine parts.

Normaly i should get around 500Hp with 1,5bar (21psi) but with help of better intake manifold and Ethanol E85 I got 650Hp. I was very surprised myself.

And like other people says here you have much more space with 300E for manifold and big turbocharger.

With E55 I should use Vortech T-trim, big intercooler and Standalone system and of caurse get lower compression around 8,5 and boost around 14psi so you get crazy E55 engine

Lots of folks are running 16-18 psi on (otherwise) stock W211 E55s.

C32s are seeing 20+ psi with newer setups.

Sounds great.Does they running with stock compression?
Becaurse M119 was pretty sensitive for spyking with higher boost but it seems like they got better with w211
