E55 AMG
raced a porsche 997TT

I have an e55 with a DMS ecu and pulley upgrade. Was at the roudabout and got in behind an 997TT and we went up a 3 mile straight. I can tell you this much, he did not get away from me, did not pull even an inch. The guy must have been pissed off. Actually at one stage I got on the pedal too quicky and had to brake as I would have been in the back of him.

I was very impresed with the E55 becuase it was hard to judge when he stopms on the gas first. To be honest if we had raced side by side, I would have had him. What also imprseed me also was the snort of the Turbo. I could not hear the e55 over the Turbo, noisey beast, but sounded great.

I am a big fan of the 997 and a previous owner of a 997s. But the e55 really did impress me today! Also I have almost bald tyres on the rear as the PS2's are still out of stock. Any of you any experience of 997TT?

I wish I still had my 996TT. I loved that car.

I'd also like to see how my E55 matched up against it. They were/are both stock.

Since I'm stock, I'd like to see a 997TT just to see how well I could hang before losing.

I had a run in with a stock C5 Z06 the other day and beat him... that felt very nice. We ran from 0 - 100ish.

I don't get it. Are you saying he's lying or on drugs to think he could have won?

Scott I think a 996TT & 997TT will be in attendance for the airfield event in Dallas. Tell your wife that you are doing weekend R&D.

No, I'm saying you both are. The races you described are not legit. Everyone here has already agreed that a Z06 kills due to its weight advantage. And that applies even if the 55 is heavily modded from what I have read. As for the Porsche, according to Edmunds, it gets 11.6 @ 118.5 stock. The car has 500 hp and a curb weight of 3,596 lbs. The E55 described above with the mods given won't run 11.6, will it? Still I don't think the other cars are better and they are only a touch faster due to a weight advantage...and I don't think you guys are really lying or on drugs.

SL55 AMG, M5 E60, 2002 S55 AMG, Range Rover Sport Supercharged,
To the OP:

You say you an ECU upgrade with pulley? Not stock ha!

How much horsepower and torque do you now get?

The 997 turbo has around 470 horsepower? And 400 something lb ft torque? Pretty light too.

He said it was a C-5 Z06 not the new C-6 Z06. Big difference.

C-5 s can be taken by stock 55s. Years ago 55s were in the 11.s now we have some in the 10.s and looking for 9.s this winter.

In memory, God speed Ken.

You may want to put down whatever you're on and read my post.

I said C5 Z06.... HUGE difference.

I raced a C6 Z06 in my E60 M5, and yes, lost. Pretty badly actually. The C6 Z06 is a MONSTER.

I really hope I can make it. My wife is out of commission due to illness, and likely won't be back to 100% by then, but I'm hoping i can swing it anyway.

I also have a friend w/ his E60 M5 I'm trying to talk into coming up with me and any others from Houston wanting to convoy.

Hope your wife gets better soon. My wife has had some health issues lately too. It can be a sobering ordeal.

Hope you get the chance to go to Dallas

And to stay on topic, I can't get a Porsche to race me,

They were not on a 1/4 mile from the lights.
The roll will take away the porsche's 4wd launch advantage.
On the street whoever stomps the pedal first has a major advantage.
So why contradict the race.

raced my friends modified subru sti from a stand still, he creamed me till i passed him at around 220-260 km.

Did a rolling race from 70km no contest pulled on him and just kept going, this was using manual to, as i had to get to a lower gear as his car was fast!
My car just leaped and off we went.
dig launch was plagued by the triangle of death

was really fun

had a Lexus gs 460 i believe they are called, trying to do high speed runs over and over again at 260km with me

Yes correct my car is not stock. I am not sure about bhp and tourque figures. This was the upgrade. "This gives an additional peak of over 50 bhp and 100 Nm, the most impressive part is the difference in the already colossal mid range. At 3500 Rpm an additional 100Nm+ of torque and 80Bhp+ is available."

If I was the Porsche driver, I would have been pist off. I know the guy and he even refused to acknowledge me. I have no reason to lie make this up or exagerrate. All I can say is the E55 modded is very impressive.

It could, I ran 11.6 with similar mods:

It is very sobering, but it will be ok.

I've had one Porsche race me, but it was a 99-01 C2. It wasn't really a close race.

The 997tt pulls very hard, no 996 3.4 or 3.6 won't stand a chance with the
E55 maybe with a supercharger.

the 997 w/ auto trans is probably faster to drive under all circumstances..

if the driver was driving a manual 997tt, any delay or small mistake would give back the advantage it had.

the fact you kept up with him was good.. I'll take that anyday.

I've beaten cars that i shouldn't be able to beat as per magazines. In the real world there are many factors that determine the outcome of a race.
