03' E55 about to hit 50K miles. Extended Warranty time or not?

My 03' E55 is about to hit 50,000 miles and I'm wondering if getting an extended warranty is a smart move. I plan on driving this car another 2-3 years (or up to 75-80K miles). How has the service been on these cars?

Usually the extended warranty companies want at least a month left on your factory warranty...so start shopping now. I've looked into it already...try autoclub.com for a personalized estimate. I'm probably going with Mercury and their platinum plan (4 or 5 yr?/100,000 miles)

Good luck.

I would purchase the warranty from Mercedes Benz...it's pretty much a direct extension on your original warranty...I sell MBZ's and recommend an extended warranty if you're going to keep it...they are awesome cars, but you do not want to be in one w/out a warranty

I asked the manager at my dealership...they said MB wont extend my warranty on my 03 E55..im using my CPO warranty right now and dunno what to do next year...

They do sell General Electric Warranties...but once they submitted "E55 AMG" on the computer....it said no contracts available...they dont cover AMG cars and V12 Cars...

Not sure on what the price will be (likely 2x the #'s mentioned above) but they are worth every penny and you will use it (often)...

Get an extended warranty. I'd hate to have a beast without warranty.

+1000...also get to know the mechanic or shop that will be dealing with the aftermarket warranty. I'm going to have major mods on my car and my independent MB shop already have a heads up on them and really don't care just as long as they get paid for the warranty work.

Also get the most comprehensive plan you can afford. Jangy is right...A Beast out of warranty can get expensive..."simple" stuff like AC going bad can get pricey...just think of all the other electrical and mechanical crap in our cars and start running towards that aftermarket warranty...

Good luck.

I too just bought the Mercury Platinum plan for my 03' e55 (http://corp.americanmercury.com/mbp/) from Auto Warranty Broker

It takes 30 days and 1k miles to go into affect.

paid about $4500 with tax for the 4 year / 100k total mile plan here in Florida.

did a loooooooot of research .. seemed like the best coverage after market warranty out there .. my local dealer also said they never have problems with claims with them.

What happened to Courtesy Motors in Chico, CA? When I bought mine 12 mos. ago they had the most competitive deal. Her name was Lisa-gotta do it, dont go naked with a rocket with a 40K propulsion system.
Remember, its a racing car!! Joker

UPDATE FOR ALL E55 FELLOWS:

My dealer just called me as I was constantly asking them to follow up with Genereal Electric for a warranty for our 2003 E55's. He finally informed me that there is a 5 Star warranty that mirrors factory warranty. Bumper to Bumper coverage, excluding maintenance and wear and tear. Car rental 30$/ day covered

Length: 3 years
Miles: up to 75000
Price around mid 4,xxx$

They said they will deal with them directly, they file a claim, once they get approval....they fix your car...you drive away, and they wait for payment as a receivable....I asked "you are not bull****ting me right?" they said "no!"...

What do you guys think?

I think you're gettin' zoomed. Bad!

Search for Michael Case, Daimler Chrysler.

I bet he's less than 2.7k for 3 more years up to 100k - bumper to bumper.

Save the $$ and lease a new '08E63, it comes with a warranty.
