BMW M5 Twin Turbo and M7 Prototypes Spied

and this:
"Last month, BRABUS teased everyone with a photo of a covered vehicle they said would be the ultimate "wolf in sheep's clothing." Today, they officially announced what that vehicle is. Say hello to the BRABUS Bullit, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan that is the beneficiary of the utterly monstrous BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine transplant. Put plainly, that makes this rather understated-looking (for BRABUS, at least) sedan one of the fastest cars in the world, period.
Power from the twin-turbocharged V12 is a staggering 720 horses and an even more mind-numbing 974 lb-ft of torque. For the sake of tractability, BRABUS electronically limits the peak available torque at "only" 811 lb-ft. Still, you'd better have a substantial tire budget set aside, as you'll (literally) be burning through it very quickly. A heavily-modified 5-speed automatic with a BRABUS locking rear differential sends power rearward. Two different final drive ratios are offered, as well -- 2.65:1 or 2.24:1. Naturally, the exhaust, suspension and brakes are all modified as well.
Performance numbers are blistering: 0-62 in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 224 mph. If have €348,000 handy (and you live in Europe), you can consider yourself to be in the market for one. For complete details and specs on the Bullit, just follow the jump. "

From what I have been told there is a new TT motor coming for future AMG models and its not a V12 (well that motor will still exist too).

Okay, now if I only had $500,000

See yeah
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
i dont get it how does 544 hp makes audi NOT hold the throne of 600hp???

From what I hear this new motor should be interesting and may be a bit of a curve ball - in a good way.
But that M5 TT sounds amazing. Sorry but that motor will be hard to pass up since it will finally have some torque and also 600 hp!
HP races are always fun to watch!

They are able to make that kinda power out of 4.2 to 6.0L V8 motors with ease believe it or not.

Thats just my opinion,I could very well be wrong. The S63 puts out 518hp,which is close to 544hp.I for one hope they use F/I on the future cars.
I wouldn't be surprised if that 544 hp is only through a simple ECU tune because he did say one time that the current 63 engine is "easily" tunable to 580 hp

The RS6's king of the throne status will last only about one year, then AMG will come out with the TT V-8, and BMW will either enlarge the M5/M6 engine to increase power and still stay N/A, or might go with forced induction to stay competitive. Either way, we will see these cars just get faster and faster for sure. Also Lambo supposedly is going to seriously up the power on the Gallardo to around 600 for the 2009 or 2010 models I heard, and the all-new top of the line Murcielago replacement (atleast 750+ HP maybe?) should come for 2010 also.
Let the HP wars continue gentlemen.....

Horsepower war is definitely the right word.
P.S. - Remember from that interview with one of the head engineers from AMG at HOA regarding the CLK 63 Black Series when asked if AMG is working on an all-new transmission to compete with Audi, Porsche, and BMW's upcoming all-new super-fast trannies, he said very slickly, something along the lines of "wink wink, don't worry, we are working on something like that".
I think Benz should just somehow bring that Ferrari F430 Scuderia's 60-millisecond shift-time transmission over to the AMG cars. Only hurdle would be modifying it to handle the much more powerful torque figures of an AMG engine over a Ferrari engine.

Ted

Yes, an AMG rep did hint at the idea that the Auto's gearshifts were way too slow and they are doing something about it. Sounds to me like a DSG tranny.
Porsche is also embracing the dual clutch sequential tranny as well a encoporating some new technology into the updated '09 Turbo.
The new Skyline GT-R is supposed to come standard with a DSG as well.

From Scatch77
Ted you mis understood what BMW is doing with the new turbo 6's
They can not make anymore power staying NA on there regular 3 series with out using there M power engines or upping the displacment. They needed somthing to bridge the gap between the new m3 and the old one and not use an M power engine. The next m3 will have about 420hp and the nearest none M is like 260,the 330.That is a huge difference so they just turbo'd a basic inline 6 to bridge the gap and make 300 hp and keep the people with the e46 M power engines happy.
BMW M will never use a turbo in there cars. They are a whole different division that builds High revving NA race engines.
the next m3 will be an NA engine and so wont the next M5
From Toro4me:
i said myself that i knew bmw is got a turbo 6 cyl in the new 335.
but my discussion is on M vs. AMG, not non-M, the non-M is not a high revving 100hp/L engine. to me non-M 6 cyl engine is no more attractive than the 6 cyl in a Nissan, i can care less about that.
any in any case, the quoted paragraph does not translate into bmw is going forced induction.
