Johnson CM30 Pump
This is highly recommended! I started seeing all these posts about this intercooler phenomenon, i said to my self, these guys must have some ****ed up cars, mines got 0 problems.
Turned out i just wasn't pushing my car hard enough, and for long enough to notice. I also noticed it started to get worse and some times just not work at all
Anyways,,,,,,
I had my shop in West LA (LUCENT MOTORS) install this pump for me. I didn't want to go threw the hassle at the dealer, and besides i decided i should get a much better pump then the OEM since i was going threw the hassle of doing so.
The new pump works alot better. I immediately noticed the cars got more grunt, power, and more torque. Its exactly how the guy described it on the other post on here some where " It now has more *****"
I got that good deal on ebay and got the pump for <90 shipped.
Install looked pretty easy, but then again i was sitting on a chair watching one of the best shops in the country install it.
A+ mod.
Id love to race a stock e55 now, so far engine wise i only have filters and eisenmann sport exhaust, but i am pretty sure this pump will give me a huge boost.
I read a post on this site that said that most owners dont even know, dont believe it when told there car has a defective pump . CARS ARE COMMING FROM MBZ WITH THIS HUGE ISSUE and 95% of the owners dont even know it.

The pump wont do anything for you hp wise unless your stock pump was dead in the first place. They both flow about the same, the Cm30 is just a better quality pump for longevity is all.

i think it was vadim that stated the cm30 actually flows at twice the rate of the oem bosch unit...another reason i think the cm90 is too much.

Must have been a differnet pump Mikey. The Cm30 is very close to stock.I did a little shade tree mechainc test to see how they flow..Stock 58 seconds.Cm30, 55 seconds,CM90, 43 seconds and almost sucked the bucket through at the end! That was using 3/4 line with all 3 pumps with 5 gallons of water.

I just had to see with my own eyes how they differed. The CM90 was a beast compared to the other two.But also a beast to get mounted in there.

You can just imagine the flow on a cm90 when using 1.5 hose in and out.

who was it that had a cm90 instaled... i may be thinking of upgrading in the near future...
If fitment is managed will it improve cooling over cm30 by alot or just a little,
Currently i have revised Mb pump, but have not done any data logging, until i get my data logger
can stock system handle such a pump?
thanks

I can tell you there is a different, specially with a pulley E55. My car desperately needs relief on ITA temps and even if the Johnson gives you a 10 degree drop in temps.. my car really needed it.
BTW: This mod is very simple and any mechenic can do this.
Lift the car
take off plastic covers
pump is located on the passenger side (behind the fog light) you cant miss it.
disconnect the hoses
unscrew the brackets and power connector
put the new pump with bracket
put the hoses back on
splice the cables (positive and negative) and use electrical tape
use tie wraps to secure the cables
turn on the car to test and add a bit more fluid to the reservoir
put the cover back on
and you are done.

CM30 Install on a C32
I did some searching and found this thread referrenced by Vadim@gmgracing showing a CM30 install. It seems the CM90 is a lot more work for an interim solution.

2005 SL55 AMG, 1986 Porsche 930S, 1996 Porsche 993tt
NEED HeLP!!!, I will install tomorrow the Johnson pump-Intercooler pump on my 2005 SL55 AMG.
Went to epc and is freezing on my computer and unable to get the info.
There's 2 electric pumps in the right side(passenger) of the radiator, one is smaller(lower pump) and the other on top is bigger.
Which one of the pumps will be replaced by the Jonhson pump, the bigger (top) or the smaller(bottom).
Also the stock pump has 3 hoses and the Jonhson pump has 2 conector for 2 hoses, the remaing hose should be clamped or what?
Big pump on the left and smaller pump on the right.
Jonhson Pump
thanks,
Ricardo
