I have the Mercury Platinum on my 03 e55 and they have been fine so far.
They just covered an airmatic suspension pump and relay... but they don't pay the taxes....

Cool

Compared to dealer prices what you think?

They the dealer told me I have just about less then 2 years left on my warranty and did not provides extanded warranty on the 55's.

So,
With the Mercury I can 3 more years on top of the factory warranty.
Anyway I don't plain to keep it that long and Just enough time to do my mods.

Thanks for your concern,

Thanks for your concern,
If you are getting a 7 yr/50,000 for 2,500 THAT's GOOD
If you are getting a 5 yr/50,000 for 2,500 KEEP SHOPPING

The year coverage is from in service date.

I guess its not clear how many years you are getting in your coverage.

All the Mercury warranties start from 0 miles and from the date of your contract with Mercury.

For example .. if you agree to a 5 year 50K mile warranty today ... that would give you warrarty coverage til 09/19/2012 and 50K total miles.

So, the year part of your contract sounds good to me .. its just the total miles that your covered for sounds low .. however you only have 12K miles .. so since you seem to but very little miles on you car .. you should be ok.

Good Point. Thanks for the clarification. Other warranties I am familiar with start with the IN SERVICE date.

Good luck.........

Mercury Warranty

Jeff Brooke called back and he said 2500 with extra coverage 5 years 60000 no deductibles.

I made a mistake it was 60000 not 50000.

Do you think you'll need more miles than that? 60k over 5 years is not much. Do they offer more mileage, like a 100k warranty? No doubt that 5 years from when you sign the contract with them is great though. Full coverage 'till 2012, that's awesome.

So their premium zero deducable warranty for 5 years (from warranty purchase date) and 100k miles (total miles, not miles added since warranty purchase date) was $4,700? Seems reasonable, as long as Mercury really stands behind the warranty and doesn't break ***** (e.g. trying to void it if you have the slightest mod). Thanks for the info!

I'm torn between selling my 2005 with 42k miles on the clock and extending the warranty and keeping her. There isn't a car out there that is enough of an upgrade for less than my target price (~$60k-$70k).

The problem with these W211's is that most other cars fall so short in terms of acceleration and comfort. Hard to justify selling her for $50k, shelling out another $20k+ (add in taxes, etc), and ending up with a car that is slower than the E.

Decisions, decisions...

Try contacting Michael Case at <sales@chryslerservicecontracts.com>.
I bought a 7 yr 100k on my CL for around 2,600.

It's underwritten by Daimler Chrysler and you can have the car repaired at your MB dealer.
(If you think that's the best choice.)

I won't even come close to 100k miles in 7 years so when I talked to Michael at Chrysler I got a quote for the E55 for 7 years with 85,000 miles for $2095 and a $100 deductible. The prices change more for the miles than the term because he gave me another quote for a 7/50,000 for $1285 with the same deductible. You have a lot options for miles and time with him.

They also want the car repaired at a dealer to guaranty the quality of work and parts.

I think you will end up going with Mike. That is where I am going to get my warranty. Can't beat their prices and coverage. The longest they go out is 7 years from inception date.

i dont know too much about chryslerservicecontracts .. but, when i was looking at aftermarket warranties, there name came up a few times.

When I called dealers asking about which aftermaket plans had the least issues regarding claims/coverage etc. ... mercury was the most recommended and widely accepted by the dealers in my area ... in fact, mercedes benz of palm beach sells them directly (though more expensive thru them) so, hence why i went with mercury platinum.

To be on the safe side .. I would recommend calling the dealer where you get you car serviced and just make sure they accept whatever aftermarket brand you purchase.

So if you have a zero deductable deal, do these warranties generally pay the shop (e.g. the dealership) DIRECTLY when repairs are made? Or do you pay the cost of repair upfront and then try to get reimbursed?

Not a big issue, I suppose, but I hate having to chase down reimbursements! I never send in rebate forms

No, it's a very big issue to pay in advance and then get reimbursed.
Both Mercury and Daimler Chrysler pay the shop directly.

The salesperson at our credit union just contacted me about airmatic coverage from Mercury.
"I just spoke to Mercury. Since Mercedes calls this suspension “shocks or struts”, it is not covered."
Anyone with Mercury have their airmatic covered? I see the pump/relay was but what about the actual shocks/struts that seem like $800 or so.
