No More Hesitation
I wrote a thread a while ago about my persistant hesitation on off idle. Well I finally took it in and they did a check, but couldn't find any codes, however, they did something that improved it 200%. I tried to scan my service order but, couldn't (printer error), but here is what they did. They installed a MESFI code which was for the engine, and a ETC code for the transmission. I will ask when I get a chance what all of this means, but the performance now off idle is incredable, a totally changed vehicle. This thing now jumps instead of accelerating. He did say that the codes will not have any effect on "C" mode, but on "S" mode " will be more firm on acceleration", and boy is it ever. Just thought I would pass it along!!

Until I figure out the fault on my printer (copier), all I can do is quote what he has written down.............
Wahatever 540991 control unit was tested, also 540992 control unit which I assume is the transmission control unit.
I just says that they installed code MESFI and code ETC, both are flashes. One has to do with the engine the other the transmission, as I understand it. I am planning on giving them a call tomorrow and try and get details, but I'll tell you, this thing is improved two fold. The car is night/day difference. I did not have a chance to get some highway runs, will do so tomorrow and report back. If someone knows the MB codes, they could probably have more detail on how it changes the performance.

im interested in this as well.. after reading about the 63 hesitation problems on the forum i bought the sprint booster.. i would have to say for about a month i thought the sprint booster was a good buy.. now that i think about it i think it was just in my mind, or i have gotten used to it now.. i still experience the hesitation even with the sprint booster.
without the sprint booster there was hesitation at the start, now with the sprint booster i feel that there is hesitation when i have to put the pedal to the medal
im thinking about taking the sprint booster off and seeing how the car would react again.. all i know for sure is, whenever i reset the ecu, the car feels a bit faster for a few days..

I'm very interested to find out more details as well......
Even though my car never had the hesitation, it could definately use better and stronger acceleration
What date was your car built?

Yeah, I'm interested as well. I'm also interested in finding out the build dates out there... Mine's an 11/06 build. Anyone know something specific for my situation?

Here is the service order.........https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1192135436
I don't believe I did it.....Most of you guys are computer smart...just a rookie here...but anyway, the difference is very noticeable....VERY. My car build is 0806...the mechanic said that this was a flash just released..he knew nothing about it, but thought he would apply it to my vehicle....there is major thrust in first and second. The hesitation is mostly gone, but that remains to be seen under daily driving.

Yes, it works now...... thanks
I will try it next week when I take my car in for service. What bothers me is that everytime I take it in, my dealer says "your car has all the latest software updates and flash, etc...."
I understand I have one of the latest build dates for 07 models but I also know that new flashes and updates keep coming out all the time, and some have to apply to mine

i don't know how you can convince them to install the new flash..other than telling them you have a hesitation or something....the first time I said this to my SA, he said that he didn't feel anything, which is bull, because now he said that he feels something when I accelerate hard, well I didn't have to accelerate hard, just a tip in off idle would do it...also a couple dozen of doughnuts for the guys worked wonders too...now when I say something that I need, I usually get the benefit of the doubt!!
Great ,
Thanks guys!!!
I will note this and ask my SA if I need it, likely we all do.

If you take it in and ask them to reflash the ECU/transmission to the latest setting...you should be ok. Does your car have a hesitation..??
BTW.....even though my car is a whole lot better...it does still have some hesitation....I called MBUSA and got one of their roadside guys...and he said that he would have one of their field reps to give me a call, that was three weeks ago. Well no call to date..so I sent a nice e-mail to MBUSA....that was on monday...so far no calls or e-mails yet........waiting....

Yep....that sounds like mine did and still does to some extent. The flash that they did to my car really did improve the acceleration off line..but I did still have the hesitation...not to the degree that it once was..but it still does!!
