What if we put the G55 rear in our car. 4.11's!!!
Just kinda day dreaming about it.
Besides having her now top out at about 150. If someone could actually make her fit, you think it would have a dramatic effect on 1/4 times. Wonder if it would turn into a sit-n-spin or dropping rears weekly.

imho, 4.11 + 4300lb curb weight + traction = a LOT of broken parts starting from the axles and working your way through the entire transmission.
like you said, it would be fun if money was no object!

4.11 will get vmax of 143.66 on stock rubber ... not exactly ideal.

5th_143.66 (possibly 4 gear changes in the qtr mile) ... I dont think tranny is fast enuf for this.
To me 3.06 is shortest you can go ... vmax is 192.96

What i am conserned about is traction problems, I have big probs now with 650HP +, doing more mods during winter and installing 3.06 gears could make my car undrivable off the line or rolling start 1st gear...
Either stay stock or 3.06..the problmed is TCU as well...not sure where to get it...

I dont know about you, but for me i suffer so much from standing start and low speed rolling from esp. some times it is good other times it kills my launch.
Thats why i am looking at LSD
and DR tires (Nitto 555R2 or Toyo R888
)
with your power and winter timing coming you are going to have some fun times with traction

Chatting with my tech over the weekend and got him laughing at this post.
Told me that the G55 was solid axle (ours use half shafts) so I guess that is out.
Then asked about the SLR rear and he told me it's another wonder of AMG/Mc engineering. Guess it has it's own cooler pump and everything. Diff is supposed to be pretty large compared to ours so I guess that idea is out.
Wonder what the CLK DTM rear looks like?? (That's a 3.06r)
