My 97 BMW 850Ci is for sale on Auto Trader. Recently I've been contacted by email and text message by several Nigerian scammers inquiring about my car. They are pathetic, their attempted scam is obvious and it's too bad that a reverse "flame" isn't real. I would pay a lot to see the end result. Sorry for venting but this cr-p really pis-es me off! How many of you have also experienced the same BS and what did you do about it? Thanks.

My now sold C32 came onto ebay again from one of these mfers.
They left the original details the same but just changed the price to only 10.000 usd and gave a nigerian bank account stating that 5.000 would be suffice to get the car.

and you can only "wire" them money. For them to spend time doing it and still keep doing it means that they are making money from some poor people. I think thats has to be the #1 industry of Nigeria. Sad.

Whenever I get an email stating that "They are representing a foreign buyer, and want to know the price", I think its one of our African brothers.
I jack the price by $20K. They usually say......GREAT, and they want to send a check. I can't tell you how many fraudulent checks I have in my desk. A simple visit to the bank to check authenticity always yields the same answer. I can't believe anyone falls for this.

Just to shed some light on this subject:
Most of these e-mails are not actually from Nigeria. A spam programmer will write a software that creates a million variation of the same e-mail (for many different situations) and send them to over a million e-mail addresses a day. The spammer can easily do this from servers here in the U.S., Canada, Europe, etc.... very little servers are actually in Nigeria.
Imagine if they only have 0.1% success

..........Nigeria is a member of OPEC. One barrel of crude oil today is near 100 US dollars (75Euros). Safe to say that oil is Nigeria's number one industry.

..........well, the number one past time is soccer by a wide margin.
.........not really into trying to defend these scammers. My point really is that the scammers have succeeded in scamming everyone that there is something intrinsically Nigerian about their scams. Someone in Durham NC or London, England claiming to be Nigerian sits on a computer and asks you to send him/her your life savings. The person knows fully well that everyone including the authorities are going to be fixated on Nigeria and Nigerians and will never catch him/her. Wonder why the scammers don't claim to be from another country other than Nigeria. You'd think they will at least vary their claimed country of origin, even if they were Nigerian.

say what you like about the scammers, but its the morons who actually fall for it that need to be laughed at. if it wasn't for them, these guys would have given up a long time ago...
