No doubt. There's no reason to deny the facts. It's another AMG and has the 55 beat for smoothness and braking. The 55 is the torque monster, and (so far) is the quickest E class (for now). The 55 is more mod friendly if only because it already has forced induction. The cars are nearly identical, much more so than a 135 VS a 3 series BMW so I just fail to see the need to bash either car. The bottom line is the 6.2 is the future, and the 55K motors are history or will be soon.

I'm driving an '06 like you, but in back to back drives, I thought the E63 brakes felt better. Don't know if the stopping distance is any better, just seemed to have a better feel than brake by wire. As far as smoothness, I don't see what that has to do with racing? Unless your SC clutch is always engaged, I don't see a 55 being near as smooth as the 63 I drove. My 55 is a bit jerky especially now that it's been modded?

We need to have more stock E55s show up at Fontana this coming Friday 11/30/2007 so we can have lots of head to head races, then you guys can analyze the data and conclude all you want.

Last time, it was lots of fun and everybody enjoyed the races, especially jangy as he went head to head with every single 63 out there

Jangy, is there any chance you can join us?

Rafal did not post a comparison, he just ***** slapped 63 owners accross the World.

The comparisons come from folks that participate , not "oh I drove my freinds suburu and it feels faster than my other buddies E63"

Its tiresome..

We LOVE the 55 we never BASH it to the degree the 55 owners critisize the N/A motor.. Nothing but respect , wish it was reciprocated at some level.

You are too dramatic " ... slapped 63 owners across the world"???... I love your passion but as Rock said, Rafal is not the enemy. This 63 vs 55 debate is almost as old as the 55 vs M5 debate.

Sorry fellows, but if you'd bought the E63, they've sold you a puppy!
There is just no way that anybody in their right mind who previously owned any of the 55K powered cars, would "uwillingly pgrade" to any of the new 63 powered vehicles (except DerekFSU, LOL).That leaves the new crop of unsuspecting, aspiring AMG owners who don't know what they are missing.

There is a small remedy for the long gas pedal travel, which delays the E63's acceleration until it's been pressed to the boards for a few long seconds.
I just installed in my friends E63 the standard Automatic version of the Sprint Booster (don't bother with the AMG version of SB in a car without the Kompressor) and the improvment was significant. My friend likes it, but he still cannot stop apologising for trading his 5 year old SL55 for this laggy, peaky, high revving car, which has no torque to speak of below 4000RPM.

Sorry but this goes too far!! Its a slap in numerous ways. It is not a comparison its a one sided slam of a car many folks here now own. It is not factual, its full of mis-info and offers a band-aid to a sick car.. Its a post meant to incite , it is what it is, no sugar coating , its a strongly worded BASH to every 63 owner here.

I dont think the MAJORITY of 55 owners believe this? At least I hope not

vic sorry man, im a bit perturbed

Shame on you!
So how's the penal colony doing these days? I'm sure you are sick of hearing comments like this as I am of unsubstantiated comments about the 63. First off, this was meant as a joke so no disrespect to our brothers from down south. Second, you took the bait so easily and missed the real derogatory comment. Who cares if you may or may not be descendants of criminals; I think most of us are to one degree or another. I said you made decisions based on emotion not logic...that's the spin...y'all are a bunch of girls . I'm surprised no one caught this. All joking aside, they are both great cars and the spirited debate makes this site fun.

I didn't miss the joke, or I would have got really, really angry. You seem to miss the irony in my response, though. No offence taken
I genuinely tried to be helpful in letting my E63 breathren know how to bring their sluggish cars up to speed and that's the thanks I get!
There is a lot of insecurity in both camps to unleash such a controversy. That is good, because there is nothing worse and more boring than a "society of mutual admiration". There are a lot of members who would rather shoot the messenger than hear a different point of view.
One even wants to get me kicked off the forum! Bring the rope, and let's string'im up!

If you are secure in your convictions, no amount of "stirring" by others will affect you. When, on the other hand, you have lingering doubts and fears, coupled with a nagging sense of "buyer's remorse" the slightest bit of criticism will send you through the roof. Which one are you?

bro,

You never explained your theories and I happen to do rather than talk. I race E55's and E63's once a month, over a few hundred times per year . I simply report result, it seems you are the one with very little experience.

I appreciate if you were truly trying to help, we need it..

There are numerous threads on the issue and you should have posted your 63 experience in a "problem discussing thread" rather you chose to hit us hard as you do in many threads, attacking , performance and looks.

Using a sick, defective, broken, unflashed, 63 and stroking that over all 63's was your mistake. Plenty of 63's in here that could keep pace with your 55 and yes you could just as easily lose

I actually did not get the humor, my apologies to you and all other members, but I have worked really hard to erase many faslehoods, I think we are doing well for a car thats very new. And yes the hesitation is there, it has been acknowledged, it has been discussed ad naseum as has 63 vs 55.

There will be many cars losing to this 4500 lb sedan coupe...I will simply post up more vids. and yes even in defeat the reult will be posted

Nope,

seriously have you personally run a 63?

Has Rafal run one? side by side? There is a vid on utube from Australia of a 63 staying in front of a 55?

Ok have a great day, hopefully we can all get along now

stock vs stock it will be up to the driver and who ever has the best gear or power band.

Wonder if the CLK Black and E63 had the all mighty Sprint Booster to thank for theese runs.

Hope not, especially with a remark like he made to start this thread. If he must, then I'd like to read something more reasonable and supported with FACTS!!!!!!

no way in hell a 5 year old SL55 is out performing a 63, unless its heavily modded.

63's are burying your times, better get to a track

12.343 113.700 8.000 89.940 1.855 50.0 Yes Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 2007 Rob MacNeil
12.352 113.620 7.991 89.980 1.870 67.0 Yes Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG P30 2007 MercedesBenz_Forever

12.356* 111.840 7.980 88.790 1.874 70.0 Yes Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 2005 RAFAL

kinda funny the car you put on blast has run faster than your best time.

63's are trapping 4-6 mph faster than your 55?? whats the story?
