It looks as if the chrome trim is s separate piece over the black grill. Can the chrome piece be separate for painting and then reattached to have a complete blacked out grill?

Or is a black grill for sale anyhwere?

The chrome trim is just that. You can take it out and paint it. I did. Scuff it up some or the paint won't hold. The issue becomes repainting it, since I get chips all the time. I don't want to spray the entire thing, just that facia.

I tried the Stealth Grill. Not the best fit and finish, but VERY cheap and BLACK. It has since warped in some areas, so I think they may need to change materials. I'm still waiting for a refund or replacement.

I'm looking for a CF Brabus like grill with 3 or 4 slats. I want big airflow and a different look. Anyone working on anything like that?

 

What do you guys think of this one?

I bought this one from Jerry at formymercedes.com.

I had it on the car for about 3 months but then took it off and replaced it with the oem one that i painted satin black.
They come in either silver or black.

 

I have that grill brand new in box, I originally was going to pick up a used E55 but got a E63 instead. $100 picked up or + shipping if anybody's interested.

+1 that grill looks good on like, s classes, or cls, and sometimes maybe sl.. the e class front doesnt go well with that big ole mercedes symbol on that grill

 

Thats why i took it off.

 

We are making our own 4 and 5 bar grille out of carbon fibre, and also we have done this E63 by simply pulling off the grill and sanding and painting it. attached is a pic...

When and how much? Do you have any pics of the lesser slats? My stealth grill just didn't work out. I need something more rugged.
