2006 E55 AMG, BMW E28 M5, 1960 Cadillac Convertible, 1932 Ford Tudor, 1932 Ford Roadster, 53 Hudson
WTB: E55 Questions
New guy here looking to buy an E55 (w211) can you all shed some light on what to look for, like options, I 'm liking the pano roof option but don't really know what else to be looking for. Also are there any problems, issues with these vehicles, I have been doing some searching and found something about the H20 pump causing issues. I'm replacing a Jeep SRT8 with the E55, just wondering if I can mount my toddlers' car seat in the center of the rear seat.
And finally what years should I look at most of the 03's are out of factory warranty and I'm not to keen on buying a first model year vehicle, did that with the Jeep and was a mistake!
Any pointers will be very helpfull!!

I think that's all in terms of options.
No NAV on '03.
'05+ (I think starting from 12/04 build date) receives improved steering rack and aluminum pedal. Some people also say '05+ receives better suspension... but I'm not sure.
'06 late build date has a different ECU version... harder to crack by tuners.
Typical problems:
I/C pump
Oil sensor
S/C jerk
And last but not least.... the car is intoxicating.

I was in the same boat as you!
I just picked up an '03 E55 with pano roof!
In my case I was just looking for a good car with low miles dealer CPO and a good price!
I guess that didn't leave room for an option list!

What about the HArmon Kardon sound? √ or was that standard ??

Oh... and toddler seat in the middle.... not easy. The LATCH points are inbound of the seat belt receivers, so one side is screwed up... but you could use the middle seat belt to fix it... though not ideal.

Personally, I'd skip the Nav...I just think it isn't that great a system. You are better off getting a portable Garmin nuvi...better screen, graphics, and ease of use is incredible.

I personally have not had any issues except for MB covered service bulletin(s) that were taken cared of at my B service. I did have TPMS issues when I switched aftermarket tires and brake pads...not really a problem...more of an annoyance (I have a tire pressure monitor in my glove compartment handy).
