Vadim, what ever happen to the upgraded intercoolers? What can one expect to pay for this quad turbo pkg and what kind of whp are you expecting? Are you doing any tranny mods?

I can't wait myself. If it wasn't for this project, I don't think I'd be selling my Kleemann SLK55! I will be getting at least VR700 package, but may even go with the quad-turbo depending on the results

SL doesn't handle as good as the SLK, but the power makes up for it. How crazy would it be to swap that engine into the SLK with this 1000hp kit!

Thank you everyone for patience.

Just trying to resolve couple of small snags and she should running.

I will post updates as always.

Intercoolers will be going in production within two weeks. I will make a separate thread next week.

Turbos use the engine exhaust to force air into the engine. A quick google search will teach you how turbos work.

so then how...

How does the air get from the turbos back to the engine? isn't that a far bit to push air back to the engine?

No offense to any of our cars, and as much as I would like for it to be true, the simple truth is NO WAY. We might get close to that Et in the 1/4, but we'll never see 155 mph in the 1/4.

That's becasue the Lambo has AWD. That kind of HP in an SL is only good for one thing - passing on the Autobahn.

Actually the AWD works against trap speed. That car is making close to 1200 Horsepower. It would trap even higher if it was rear wheel drive.

+1...not to mention the weight advantage it has.

If we want to see those types of trap speed we must reduce the SL's weight drastically.

So if the lambo awd, cluth, tranny etc can handle an extra 50-65%hp over stock does anyone think the gtr will be able to? I have read the nissan warranty info and it states if you turn off esp and something breaks no warranty, which is funny since launch control can only be used with esp off. It also talks of a black box that can monitor if you have been on a track etc and if you do not bring the car in after a trck day to get service and checked out no warranty again? The lambo is a good deal when you think a venom 1000 viper, a ligenfelter z06 1000tt etc all cost about 200-225k and if you get an 04 gallardo for 100k and add this 65k kit you wil be exotic and stupid fast. The dynoed this car in rwd and it made 1026rwhp so not sure what it lost when and if they went back to awd. If these guys cut a 1.5 60ft they will have a 9 sec car very easy. They also said the temp/weather sucked that day. I know the gallardos have been weighed with the tt kits around 3500-3600lbs so they are a good 1000lbs lighter then the sl/cl.

Out of curiosity I ran the numbers through a dragstrip calculator. The result was 1300 horsepower to trap 155 mph with a 4,500 lb load (car + driver).

My guess is they are having problems with the oil feed and return, maybe the intake pipe if thats the delay. I know its killing me right now haha, It took me a whole day to get the pump to redirect drain oil into my mechanics E55 vavle cover with out being noticable. The good thing about rmt setups is you can drain into the valve cover becuase your using a electric pump to return oil. On the intake you have to put it near the exhaust so it tucks up in the car but then you have to worry about it heatsoaking w/o some kind of wrap.

This makes my rmt setup look like weaksauce, im just using a single SC61 on a NA E55 and its not anywhere near as far back as those(and not anywhere near complete lots of wiring and plumbing to do). Good project man!

I'm not so sure about the accuracy of that calculator. When my Supra was running an 1100 RWHP level (@1400HP due to loose converter and TH400), it would trap at 161-163. "Race" weight was 3600 lbs.

Sorry for not mentioning this but the calculator (here: http://www.boostcontroller.com/display_page.php?i=16) is estimating wheel horsepower rather than crank horsepower.

It says you would have needed approx 1173 hp to trap 161 mph with your 3,600 lb Supra so it's in the ballpark if a little conservative.

So then a SL would need @1300 RWHP to trap 155. I don't see our transmissions holding up at that level.
