Famoso Track Rental - Feeler

Calling all South California and North California enthusiasts to meet in the middle: Central California

Famoso Drag Strip is located 1.5 hours north of LA area. The track is well-prepped and was recently renovated in 2005. The track sits at 600 ft elevation, but throughout the month of december, we've been getting DA close to -500 ft

We can probably rent the track for the whole day or even night for $7000 (includes insurance + track prep + security + ambulance, etc......).

How many people would be interested and what days are best for you?

Just got the callback from the lady at Famoso. Bet that is about right on the price.

She said for 8 cars, it would be 2000$ for first car, then 250$ per car up to max of 8. After that many, we would have to speak to another gentleman about price.

Cars would have pass NHRA specs (pretty easy for our cars) and of course helmets etc.

Only thing I am starting to worry about is how strict they are. If I turn a 10.9, I bet they give me the boot! That would suck.

At Sacto, you could shoot a **** on the starting line and they don't seem to care.

Hmmmmmmmmmm........ that still sounds kind of expensive

This comes out to $500 / car

We need at least 20 people to drop that down to maybe $350 / car.

By the way, they are not very strict. They don't really care if you run 10s. On the open nights for test and tune, I've seen cars running 6.75 seconds.

Also, that track is VERY fast at night. Temps drop down to 40 degrees and DA drops to -500 to -600 ft

We'll need to talk to that guy and see if we can lower the price a bit

That explains why the rental fee may be on the high side. Of course, it may also make the trip well worth it.

Guys, for that kind of money I can guy rear tires that can improve my times at every track. Not sure I am up for $500 or $350.

Only 8 cars seems very restrictive.

Anyway, I will watch the thread.

Not even Shawn's brand new drag radials worked at Sacramento, the track was just too sh*ty

That 8 car is not a limit, it is only pricing/marketing. If we rent the track for the whole day, we can have as many cars as we want.

I say 20 cars should be able to get many runs from 4 to 12 pm

Common SLK55R, your car would definately break records at Famoso. It is a well-prepped track, and we'll have it all for ourselves

its about a 4 hour drive for me.

I guess my concern is bringing another set of rims ... I don't want to drive down on drag radials.

They don't drive on the drag radials ... they can fit extra rims/tires in thier cars.

BTW I can't even get my drag radials til after the new year. BGF is out of stock and MT hasn't come out with it yet.
