good deal on 2006 E55 Wagon?
I've placed a deposit on, and intend to buy, this car:
http://www.berryvillemotors.com/deta...5-2387791.html
for $60k even.
I've seen it in person and love it. Being a used car, it's not perfect. There is some curb rash on one of the wheels and a few minor paint issues. In service date of 02/06, 18k miles, just about every option I think (original sticker $93K).
Any comments on the price?
The funny thing is that I originally had my sights set on a 996 turbo x-50 package, but the family honestly needs a more practical car ... and this is the compromise I was willing to make

I cann't tell you if the price is fair or not, but I can tell you, you made great choice going with the wagon. I have an E63 wagon and love it. I had to order mine and the wait was like a ten year old boy waiting for Christmas when he knows he is getting that Red Rider BB gun he has always wanted.
If you are anything at all like me you are going to absolutely love that car and you won't have to worry about anyone else having the same car. I don't know about where you live but I have never seen another one in my area, and as a matter of fact I don't remember ever seeing an AMG wagon in person.
The wagon is functional, practical and appears to be sensible. Appears to be sensible until you press the loud pedal and release over 500 horsepower from an AMG V8. Have fun and enjoy it. Don't second guess yourself and worry about the price. You will have so much fun it won't matter.

Seriously, I live in Leesburg and would never expect to find such a car in Berryville either. It's almost as if it was meant to be for me. I had been searching all over the country for the right 996 turbo, all the while facing mounting resistance from my wife. Her initial 'honey why don't you go ahead and look at the Porsche' turned in to 'we're going to spend how much on a toy just for you?'
I needed to find something more practical (I also have two kids and a dog) while still feeding my appetite for performance. The AMG wagon couldn't be more perfect for this task. My one concern with the Porsche was that I would attract too much attention. Now I'm looking forward to slipping under the radar and preying on unsuspecting victims. I thought about de-badging, but that just seems cruel

Nice find! Curb rash is no sweat and shouldn't be a deal breaker, check with Wheels America, they do great work! Gotta be one of the best sleepers going!

You may want to consider taking your car to HBL in Tysons if you do buy it.
My rims were a bit jacked up as well when I bought my used 2005 E55. I think the previous owner used a brush or something on the rims and created a bunch of light scratches. I had all 4 of them refinished at HBL in Tysons and I can honestly say they now look brand new. I can't say for sure on the color match since I got all 4 of them done but it seemed to be an exact match.

The completion of the sale is pending inspection at HBL of Tysons, which will hopefully happen tomorrow. I'll get a quote from them on fixing/replacing the wheels and anything else they find and bring that back to the seller who seemed amenable to fixing stuff ...
Does anyone know the production numbers for the 2006 E55 wagon? I searched around and found something about ~200 in the U.S. for 2005, but I couldn't find the 2006 numbers.
I'm very much looking forward to owning this wagon ... and I never thought I would hear myself say something like that!
Thanks,
Josh

Jump on it fast. That's a great price. I bought my 2005 for not much less in July.
Your car will be my cars twin, down to the options. I've put 10K miles on it in the last 6 months and I've been smiling for every one.
By far the best wagon I've ever owned. In the top 5 of all cars I've ever owned.
Fantastic family car and the ultimate sleeper. As I recall there were only 60 or so 2006 models imported!
Be prepared for people accusing you of being a poser. I find it hilarious when someone does. They don't believe the E55 came in a wagon. All I have to do is point out the four exhaust pipes and most quiet down. Those that don't, I open the hood. That solves the problem.
I suppose if they still didn't believe me, I could challenge them for pink slips.

In terms of production, I read a thread on here a while back where one of the guys had written and received a response from MB saying that there are only 23 of the 2006 models in the US. Welcome to the family!
Congrats on your purchase, you'll love that car

2006 E55 Wagon (RIP), 2019 E63S Wagon (Sold) 2023 AMG GT634S
That appears to be a close twin to my car - although I don't have the autoclose hatch.
Don't worry about debadging - no one knows what the heck the car is to begin with and even if you line up next to them - they write you off.
On another note, as a wagon - it's good for about 10 MPH for the police - I SWEAR I could travel about 100 MPH completely under the radar.
ENJOY!

That's good to hear, since I leave Wednesday on a 1300 mile trip from Orlando to Iowa in my E55 wagon.
With 6 cats in the back.
I bought a nice new Valentine 1 for the trip

So I took the car to HBL for inspection. They called me and told me to sit down and ready myself for 'the list.' They then proceeded to tell me that the car was perfect and needed nothing, potentially a first for them.
I talked to the Berryville dealer and asked him if he offered the HBL service advisor a steak dinner or something for the glowing report
Anyway, the car is back in my possession and the deal is definitely going through. He also offered to fix the wheel with the curb rash and the small paint issue that I pointed out. Chris at Berryville Motors seems like a really good guy to deal with so far for future reference ...
My first trip to the gas station already netted compliments:
Car Admirer: 'Hey, how you do you like your car? I really like the look of it.'
Me: 'Well I just got it today and I love it'
CA: 'I noticed that V8 sign on the side, what kind of gas mileage does it get?'
Me: 'Not good. Muahahahahahaha'
Honestly I'm not sure how you can live on this planet and admire cars and NOT know about the AMG supercharged V8 engine ... but oh well, I'll take the compliment!

Congrats!!!! I've been toying w/ the thoughts of replacing my 535xi w/ an E55 wagon..... and I looked at this car when it first came out at eBay... was tempted to check her out when I was in East Coast couple weeks ago.
Until my wife shot down my thoughts and told me to save the money, get the car I want and give my E55 sedan to her.... LOL. Hopefully, she will stand by her words when the time comes...

2006 - E55 AMG Estate Wagon & 2005 - E500 Sedan
E55 Wagon at Berryville
How is this for a fluke?
I bought a 2006 E55 AMG Wagon with 16,000 miles on it from Chris at Berryville Motors in May of this year. Car was as new in every respect, silver with black interior. They must breed around there.
$65,000 FOB California.
Love, love this car. It will eat about any thing on the road. So far have killed one of the new Shelby Mustangs and a mouthy guy in a M3 series BMW that he claimed he had spent an additional 25k on go fast stuff.
All he could say over and over was, it just ain't possible. Wanted to try it again, bad idea, beat him worse than the first time.
Car not running so well because of a 911 sucked up the left exhaust pipes and a vette up the right ones. LOL
Anyone have an opinion on why Road & Track and Motor Trend both get 0 - 60 in 4.1 sec with this car but it is seldom duplicated at Drag Times?
In some ways this thing is more fun than my old Viper or 427 SC.
Great, fun monster of a wagon.

Jack, I totally agree ... the car is a monster! I love those kill stories ... what an ego crusher to be eaten by a wagon. Chris told me about the other one he sold this year ... must have been you. He said he would buy a hundred of them if he could get his hands on them but they are really hard to find.
Of course now that the honeymoon period is over, I've got a few issues:
- transmission seems to slip a bit in 2nd
- the dynamic seats turn themselves off while the car is on resulting in deflation of the lumbar support and no further input accepted on the pad by your leg until the car is restarted
- nasty rattle under the dash near the windshield on the passenger side (this one might drive me nuts ...)
Car is under warranty so hopefully the dealer can take care of all of them (I worry that the tranny might take some pushing on my part though).
