AAA on La Cienega Blvd and Venice in LA did the work. As always, their work is top notch. I'll take pics of the undercarriage in a few days if I can get it on a lift.

Renn exhaust means mufflers or headers?

Actually, a lot of people remove the secondary cats and replace it with straight pipes.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I'm experiencing droning between 1500 - 2000 rpm at low speeds in 1st, 2nd and 3rg gear. I have to be in Manual mode and keep the rpm > 2000 rpm to avoid the drone. On the way up from LA yesterday, I noticed in 7th @100 there is drone as well. So, @100, I keep it in 6th.
The Renntech exhaust (mufflers) doesn't have any resonance absorption properties and I don't have a resonator. The x-pipe helped reduce the droning but I'm going to probably put the resonator back on. I'm certain that the Renntech mufflers were meant to work with a resonator in place.
Im Wondering The Diffrence In Sound/ Performance When People Replace The (res) With X, And When They Replace It With A Straight Pipe...
The difference in what I did was replacing the secondary cats with an x-pipe and the resonator with straight pipes. Now, I'm considering putting back the resonator b/c of the droning I'm having.

First phase was when the Renntech mufflers went on Thursday night right before I left San Jose for LA. At that time, my setup was secondary cats intact, resonator delete replaced with straight pipes and Renntech mufflers. It was basically the same exhaust note as what I had prior except the exhaust note was turned up LOUD, courtesy of the Renntech mufflers. As for resonance (drone), on my resonance scale (my ears) of 1 - 10, where 1 is quiet and 10 where you can't even hear the radio, I'd give it a 7.
The second phase was Friday morning when the x-pipe was installed by AAA. They removed the secondary cats and the straight pipes. It was two pieces. In place was a custom one piece x-pipe that ran back to the axle and connected to the Renntech mufflers. As soon as I started the car up, the exhaust tone was deep and smoother with less rumbling. More pleasing to my ears and exactly what I was looking for. The resonance from a 1 - 10 scale = 5.
The third phase was Friday afternoon when I stopped by VRP in Costa Mesa to pick up the AFE high flow air filters. I didn't get a chance to put them on until Friday evening. Afterwards, driving around later that night I noticed the exhaust note became deeper and an unexpected surprise was the resonance was reduced. On a scale of 1 - 10 = 4. I didn't expect the AFE air filters to reduce the resonance but it did.
Now, to reduce the resonance to 1 or 2 on the scale, I'm probably going to put the stock resonator back on, but I want to try out the Dynatech Vortex cone insert first, that is if they have the right size cone.
