I love the way this car looks from the front and rear. Side is OK but too much like a G35 or 350Z. I would still get one if I can. Being an ex Supra and RX-7 owner I am still somewhat partial to rice turbo cars.
I bet that Greddy one is pushing 700hp with simple BPU upgrades.

I am kicking myself for getting rid of my Supra's. Bought a 1994 in 1997 for 24K...and sold it for $20K...they are worth that now. Sold a 850hp one for $30K in 2002..DUH. terrible timing.

San Diego Auto Expo had this car there. I saw it in person It looked like a Celica, very cheap looking car. Looks like rice . No way could you ever compare an MBZ to that thing, looks or quality. 3 thumbs down on this review. Please see one in person before you say you would buy it.

V-SPEC is on the way...
VR38DETT twin turbo
520ps at 6500rpm
about $120,000 CAD
You can't really see from my fuzzy pic, but it has:
front Nismo style air ducts
carbon lip
carbon side skirts
carbon rear lip
carbon hood
carbon doors (!)
updated wheels, 2 options (one looks like TE37 with black lip and centre cap, silver spokes)
rear center roll/safety bar (comes down from the roof, along the inside of the back window and between the passengers)
roof mounted antenna (radio, GPS?)
rear brake ducts

The Vspec is going to be released in Japan this December. Its going to MSRP at 115K. If you are looking for a track car, the Vspec is your car. It will make a GT3 feel like a Cadillac. It only has one suspension setting...HARD. Ive got a black GTR ordered, and paid MSRP. 73K. I could care less about it being a Nissan. I love to hear all the snobs say they would rather spend 150k+ on a lesser car. Seems like these people can't buy enough self esteem. All I know is they will get a good look at the back of my GTR. I have a set of 21" HRE 597Rs in the works, and a Amuse full Titanium exhaust on order. The Vspec will be sweet, but pretty much just a track car. One thing I admire about the GTR is its practical. Big trunk and a back seat, are not things shared by it's competitors. Hell, if I wanted people to think I was hip/rich/cool I would buy a used Modena.

Local Nissan dealer has 1 coming, and will hold a silent auction for it. The auction is by invitation only.

It's definitely putting down a lot more than 470 hp. No way a 3800 lb car puts down these kind of numbers unless its running north of 500 hp. I'll guess once owners dyno these cars, they're running over 500 hp crank.
These basic V6 engines (think previous Nissan Skyline, or even Toyota Supras) have been tuned to produce over 800 hp. Rumor is that Nissan is taking some extraordinary steps to try and prevent aftermarket tuners from modifying the ECU.

Also, Toyota will not release a supercar type car under the Toyota name. They will use the Lexus brand and look for it to cost more than $100K. The Lexus LF-A is going be the car to have. 7:24 around the Ring......

The Supra is a 3.0 Liter INLINE 6....please don't say V6 for the Supra....you are really misrepresenting and disgracing it by saying that. Not to mention the fact that it has put down 1011rwhp on the stock longblock, yes given a bigger turbo, but factory internals.

I think the LF-A is going to be in the ballpark of 250K. It looks a little wild though.
The dealers that auction or gouge the GTR will not be getting anymore after their initial allocation. The dealer I am using is getting 8, and they want more.

I'll take my Supra at under $40K and show the GT-R who is highway King of the imports....Viper at the moment has it in the domestic category. Just wait though, we've got a Twin Turbo V8 Supra coming out soon.....

GT-R has got to be the most overrated car in history. You guys do realize that Nissan GT-R has the same power to weight ratio as an E55 AMG and is far inferior power to weight ratio to a Z06.
GT-R: 3,800lbs / 475hp = 8 lbs lbs/hp
E55 AMG: 4,100lbs / 500hp = 8.2 lbs/hp
Z06: 3,100lbs / 500hp = 6.2 lbs/hp
The only way GT-R will be faster than the Z06 on track or on the dragstrip is if the laws of physics are bent. Z06 is also a far better looking car than that ugly Nissan and has superior racing heritage (nothing from Nissan can even come close to the success of the C6-R). It is also cheaper. IMO, you'd have to be a fool to buy the GT-R over the Z06
The only way that these GT-R's do so well on the Nurburgiring is because they are highly tuned 600hp versions running on race suspension and race tires (which Nissan has been caught doing BTW). Let's test the C6-R on the ring and see how fast it goes... I bet it would manage 7:10 minutes. The regular 475hp "street" cars would be lucky to break the 8 minute barrier

The differences between the Z06 and GTR are nominal. 80% of drivers really won't be able to drive either car to those limits. The fact that the Z06 is lighter, and has more power and is not blowing the GTR away is impressive. What would have happened if the GTR was matched against the Z06. Nissan used the 997TT as their benchmark, and the GTR is better. I was in the market for a 997TT, not a Z06. I think the Z06 is the type of car you drive with a nice gold chain and nugget pendant. What if Nissan built a roadster that had a V8TT, no backseat, no AWD,etc....
The GTR is a ZO6 competitor. As for price, THE GTR IS CHEAPER THAN A Z06. A GTR with premium trim is 73K. A Z06 (which doesn't have near the amenities) is 80K. The GTR has a 11 speaker bose system, the Z06 has 7. The GTR has a FULL DIAGNOSTIC computer that gives data in real time. Z06 has a crappy navigation system. 2500 GTRs the first year, 1500 the second. More exclusive than a Z06.
Every review the GTR has received is stellar.

Do you have any proof of this, or did you "hear" this. There are also of plenty of other videos of the GTR beating GT3s, 997TTs, Gallardo SLs, etc.
It is your right to defend the car you like, but tell the truth about the car in question. IMO you would have to be a fool to buy a Z06 over a GTR. Until the cars arrive in June, all this banter is just speculative.

Almost nobody can get a GT-R for MSRP. Most dealer ask for a minimum of 10k over sticker and a max of 30k over. The Z06 is going for 8k under sticker. The Z06 will be faster on the highway rolls because of its superior power to weight. The GT-R will be much more practical. The looks are subjective, as always, but I think the Z06 looks much more sinister, badass, and exotic. The GT-R is a little subdued and bland with lots of Japanese (anime) styling.
The Z06 is a rwd V8 sports car. More similiar to a Viper or you could even say the platform is similiar to that of a Ferrari (rwd, V8, 2 seater, light weight). The GT-R obviously has the strongest similiarities to a 911 Turbo (awd, 6cyl twin turbo, 4 seater, realatively heavy). It's really a matter of preference. Another difference is the warranties. The Z06 has a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. You could also look at the aftermarket scene and although the GT-R would seem like the obvious tuner's choice, the Z06 has much more options and can get way more power than the GT-R. That thing will take some time for tuner's to tinker with and find ways to extract significant and reliable hp gains.
And for a comparison...

1. Boost controller
2. BIG intercooler + piping
3. Exhaust
4. Wastegate
all safe, basic Turbo car mods and it will crush a Z06...even on the highway roll

I completely agree my friend. I never said that mods won't make this thing an absolute monster. What I meant was, that this is a brand new car and it will take some time before tuners come out with good, tested and proven parts. This engine and setup is more complicated than RB26 setup. It will happen, don't worry. But for now, you can grab a Z06 and throw a low boost s/c on it or cam it and do some headwork and get 600rwhp easy. Mild bolt-ons and tune will let it creep up to 500rwhp. The Z06's 3100lbs plays a major roll in its domination. The GT-R needs much more power to compete on highway rolls. According to TopGear, the 997TT slightly pulled the GT-R on the straightline highway rolls. The Z06 pulls the 997TT.
