A Fresh 2008 Porsche Carrera 4S kill ~1 week ago....
I pass a guy driving a new 4S Porsche smoking a cig. with his window down. We pull up to a fresh red light and I look over at him a say "hey that's a fast looking car". He looks back over and lets me know it's "real F-in fast". I ask him to dial his car up as best he can, he said no problem.
Just before the light changed, I told him remember these words, "3 car lengths". By the time we got to 100, I was literally 3 car lengths ahead & as we both slowed down I got a big thumbs up.
I use Sport mode, ESP on and held the brake while I had a little rev on as to not let the wheels overspin. I also just put brand new pilot ps2's on it and my baby don't slide much.

Nice! Make no bones about it - the 4S is not a rocket but not slow either...
I know for a fact a stock E55 will run fender to fender with a 996TT to well over 100 and trust me on this one, they will run WITH a 997TT from a roll to about 80. Now, if you run into one who is skilled from a dead stop and you don't have your game "on" then...
Welcome, too!

If the Porsche had a stick and the driver did not know how to launch his car (which is not so easy in a stick 911 and if done improperly could really screw up the CV joints) it would seriously hurt him, also if he was driving a tiptronic that would really slow him down.
Stock 997S's according to the major mags run anywhere between 3.9 & 4.2 0-60 and traps between 110 &114. The X51 optioned 997S's are even faster. A stock 997 TT with sports chrono either 6 speed or the even faster (for the turbo) tiptronic will smoke a stock E55 or E63 with QM traps in the 118 -122 mph range again according to the major mags.
Both the E55/63's and the 997S's certainly deserve respect and I've owned them both. The turbo Porsche's deserve alot of respect (owned a few of those over the years too )
I understand my previous '06 E55 "Charlie" was pretty darn quick when you guys recently held your drag strip day out west, second fastest of the day or something to that effect...good girl Charlie!!!
Happy motoring!

C'mon....a regular, overpriced Carrera 4S. I used to smoke them in my C5. Won't even waste my time unless it was a TT.

Yeh +1, my other car is a 997S. It is NO match to my E55 except in turns and under braking the 997S kicks it's butt. Try racing a 997TT or that new 997 GT2. Then tell me who wins.

Bottom line is we are still safely in real fast sedans and if there is a bad accident, I walk away and the person in the porsche rolls away. There is big money sitting on this board, a select group of people who know this car. A very rare breed indeed.
Merry Xmas to all.

I don't know, Skoob... I flipped a Porsche going 100 (I think 80, cops think 100) and I walked away. Porsches are built like tanks.

E55 AMG
When my E55 was standard, I was able to beat a a C4, 997 C2s no problem and equal a 996 Turbo. I have had a DMS upgrade pulley and chip and kept up with a 997 Turbo who was infront of me.

I'll take a pillar right next to me in a side collision anyday versus 1 big door, wouldn't you?

I had a friend crash a porsche at a similiar speed and he got pretty banged up. We didn't think he was going to make it. He was hammered at the time and he paid to get out of everything by paying stupid money. He swore the car saved his life, so you maybe right.
