Well, if at 19 you consider a used E55 over a new 335i you need to think again.
1. E55 = Daddy's/family car
2. 335i Coupe = youthful & athletic.
3. You pay for warranty and maintenance on the E
4. Warranty and maintenance are free on the 335i
5. The 335i can be modded in hours, to perform at near E55 levels. All
reversible mods.
Believe me you will have plenty of time in your life for a four door Mercedes, enjoy your youth, Heck I was 34 when I bought my first 4 door Benz.(for my wife)

E55 is in a different league than a 335i. The E55 is an $80,000 car that you can buy now for $45,000 due to massive depreciation, while 335i is a $45,000 car. With the E, you get $35,000 "more car" for the same money. One is a 500hp car, the other is a 300hp car... what is there to even think about?

However, it's not fast. I murdered on entering the 2 freeway heading to Pasadena after he cut me up at the lights. Passed the little punk like he was standing still. I wouldn't be able to do that to an E55k, IC pump failures excepted.

Obviously i know this is an Amg forum, but lately i cant decide on getting a used E55 or a new lease on a 335i coupe? Ive driven a lot of benz's, both my parents have them but I've never driven an E55.
Whats your opinion? Oh, and I'm 19 and it would be my daily driver.

That's a ridiculous statement, comparing a high mileage used car to a new car. I can't think of too many kids that would want a seriously used E55, over a new 335.
Another way to look at things is you can get a brand new 335 with Dinan stage 3 tune that should be running close to 500 hp for less than a relatively new E55. You'd have a new car that outruns a stock E55 on the straights, with damn good handling.
If I was 19, I'd definitely go for the 335, for the handling, modding potential, image, and cost.

E55 is /////AMG
but 335 aint ///M
For my money a low mileage Audi RS4. A kick *** drivers car that will out perform both the others (stock) on a track and you will also loose the rick kid tag. It’s a sad fact but as you have already seen here people for some reason enjoy putting the other man down. Also what’s this crap about which car pulls more chicks. If you’re any good you'll pull chicks riding a skateboard! Good luck with your choice buddy.

P.S. If you want to talk modding potential, than please show me a 335i that can run 10's and trap 130mph+ in the 1/4 mile? Thought so....

Your statement is ridiculous. You can buy a barely used 06 with 10,000 miles for the same price as new 335i. That's no "high mileage", its basically a brand new car. No amount of tuning will make the 335i any more than it is, a mid-range $45,000 car. No amount of tuning will change the fact that is a non M 3-series... the same as a Honda civic is still a $10,000 POS no matter how fast it is or how much money you spent on it. With E55 you're getting a much nicer car for the money, a top of the line $80,000 AMG with 500hp out of the box. Even the M3 is not in the same league as E55 (M5 and M6 are)... so how the hell are you even comparing a lowly 335i to it
P.S. If you want to talk modding potential, than please show me a 335i that can run 10's and trap 130mph+ in the 1/4 mile? Thought so....

You clearly have a tendency for exaggeration. If you can buy a barely used E55 that lists for $90,000 for $45,000, that doesn't say much for the value of an E55 does it? Show me a listing for an E55 with 10,000 miles for $45,000 and I'll give you some credibility.
If you know anything about the car, you'll realize that the 335 is one of the best potentials that's come along in a long time. As for modding potential, I'll bet you'll see a 'mutant' 335's that can trap in the 10's just like you saw the extreme E55's a few years after they were introduced. But the 335's can handle as well - a big advantage.

As a potential used car buyer, I could care less about the massive depreciation of AMG's. I'm actually happy that I can buy cars like SL65 with an MSRP of $200,000 for $100,000 now. You want a listing? OK, here you go... an E55 with 15,000 miles for $48k:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...0&cardist=1547
As far as 335i's running 10's or low 11's, it will not happen. If you look at current 1/4 mile times for 335i's, there is one 11.9 pass recorded on dragtimes and that car is pretty much loaded with all the upgrades available (custom tune @ 14psi, custom turboback exhaust, LSD, drag radials, etc) and running on race gas and its still barely breaking the 12 second barrier. There are bone stock E55's on stock tires that ran faster than these highly tuned 335i's on drag radials.
Why would anyone want to modifying a 335i, lose the warranty, and have engine problems in the future just so that you can be on the same level as a stock E55 that you can buy with the same cash, fully certified? Actually you won't ever be on the same level because you're driving a non-M 3-series, which is a car of a totally different class than E55. If you want to be on the same level with the BMW, your only options are M5 and M6.
P.S. These tuned 335i's are overrated beyond belief. There are plenty here in Miami (active autowerke) and I used to crush them every time (bus lengths @ 30mph roll) when my SLK55 was still stock. They think just because some of them manage to run low 12's on race gas and drag radials they are the ****

lol who ever sais 335 for young people are probably old themselfs , i'd own an e55 over 335 anyday , i mean common its an E55!!!!!!! and im 20 , your so stupid i swear , when you see e55 on the streets it looks nothing like e320 lmao it looks very sporty and hot and that badge e55 lol it makes it sound like it's a HIGH CLASS CAR AND A 335 is a mid class , e55 all the way it's so exclusive you never see it on the streets as much as you see those 3 coupes , but i do love the 335 tho , but you can't compare it to an e55 , e55 is a much higher class , much faster and exclusive car , i'm 20 i'm clubbing non stop i drive a riced out 6 speed maxima lol and i say GO e55 , e55 is a 10 second legend , german camaro lol =]

and btw to all those who commented saying 335 will get you more girls lol are staright up geeks who had no girls when they were young , because no matter what car you have and you have no game , looks , popularity , personality , and style in this age you wont get no girls , but if you have most of that and a nice car thats ofcourse a plus

I think thats a load of crap. Im 19 and i just got a used E55. Lots of room for friends, My family is comfortable in it. I was never the type of person who would gety a car JUST for the looks, unless its a Porsche TT, I dont think i'll ever drive a 2 door, but thats just my opinion
>>>"thats a load of crap"<<< Thank you, that was well put, I appreciate your respectful reply.
>>>"I dont think i'll ever drive a 2 door"<<<
Why drive a sports car when you are young, when you can drive a 4 door family car.

2003 e55
im 20 with a e55.. which i got it when i was 19.. first i thought the 335 was better than my E cause i wanted more fun than a boring ole automatic.. but then.. watch your surroundings.. people give me props for owning a e55 at 19/20, ladies definitely love it.. since i modded the exterior to more aggressive looking.. 335i, e55, definitely e55 ftw.. but if i was to choose again... 996 turbo ftw big time!

Vic! Man I totally forgot to get your opinion on this. I haven't but myself and a friend with an Space Gray '06 are almost about to take the plunge. I've heard emissions sensors ping but then disappear and all is well. Did this happen to you? How do you find the noise? The power? I know only North American cars have this so it's a mod I'm almost convinced to carry out.
