Start up sound

So I bought this car used and I have never started any other E55s. I have a 05 E55 with about 26,400 miles on it. I just want to know is it normal for it to start up in the morning and it make a winding noise. The sound is like the sound from one of those wind up emergency flash lights when you turn the crank. But obviously it is only faster. I know some of you are laughing, but I am worried something is going bad. It goes away after it warms up, but there is still a subtle hint of it.

Ok thanks, like I said, I didn't get the car new, so I didn't know if it was there when it was new.

I remember hearing from someone that you can make it louder by grinding down the sound insulation. I'd do that in a heart beat if it was easy, supercharger whine =

is has to do with the air pump during colds starts, the IC pump and compressor.

Not very smooth for a $90k car.. but then again not too many cars have 500hp and 500 tq.

btw:

I took off the black plastic molding under neath the hood vents. its only 4 screws and the whole thing comes off.

Even with all the rain in So Cal.. I had no issues with water getting inside the engine.

Best of all.. the engine has a real vent working.. unlike before.

All AMG engines have that whine... My CLK55 did that too. I'm wondering how if there's any other way to make the charger whine louder without adding a 80mm TB.

My ex-cars: 03 E55,04 C32, 05 C55 ,03 E320
I believe the supercharger doesnt engage when you start the car...only when you depress the gas pedal........I can always feel the initial kompressor engagement when i start hitting the gas..

All mercedes have that whining noise at start up including my Dad's S550 and my bro's CLS500...

upon changing headers and changing air filters, my supercharger whine is way more prevalent
