What RPM to shift
When i was giving my friends a ride, i saw it was about to redline after i shifted at 5k rpm.
A friend of mine has a M6 and soon i know i'll be racing him and wanted to know what rpm i should shift to get the best performance? I cant wait till redline then shift because it will cut off.
Thx in advance.

Correct: in "S" transmission mode, the computer knows exactly when to upshift. In "M" mode, you have to upshift. Based on my experience and the wisdom of this forum, we will never shift better than the computer (upshift that is). Downshifting can be done by you, while in S mode, and you can get more aggressive. So my experience has been: best in S mode, I can downshift when I want and the computer does the rest.

What im trying to say is, when im in S mode i dont want to downshift to the right gear then when i push it that it wont shift up because now its not auto but its 1,2,3,4,5,6. So if its on S and 1,2,3 it will still shift on its own? But when its on M and 1,2,3 then you gota shift on your own.

To go back to normal D in S mode, hold the upshift paddle for a couple of seconds and it will go back to D.
In M mode you will need to downshift and upshift manually. The ECU will not upshift for you.

The shift lag is really frustrating.
In fact, if you put on the AMG display that shows the gear above the oil temp you will notice there is a lag between when the display on the bottom shows the gear shift and when the AMG display shows the shift.
I'm tired and that is not well explained but try it and you will see.
Yes, S mode is the way to go.
If this is stop light racing, elevate the car and put the suspension to comfort so that you get maximum weight transfer to the rear as you accelerate. ESP off.
