Well....

Last time i went down this road i was scammed by our very own SANDOVAL. He sent me a extremely damaged pulley that looked like it was dropped, and then thrown down a stair case I believe i paid like 1100. He refused to refund me my money and my American Express Platinum card got me it back real quick.

Since then online i have seen nice clean used pulleys selling for less than 1000.

I would say 700 max

Damn, didn't know about that. Sorry.

Hmm, where have you seen them for sale? I assume you don't want an ASP? Are you wanting to stay with the mid sized pulley?

OT: I wonder when VRP will have the new plates?

I am looking for a smaller 168 pulley Jangy. I dont want to run the higher boost ( dont want to upgrade the cooling system) i already have the johnson pump and just want a little extra power.

I was reading most of your posts on the subject, and i think the best way to do this is just get a pulley now and wait until powerchip or adam figure this whole mess out with tunning.

I dont trust the ASP.

All the more reason to get the VRP one, since they are also offering it in the smaller size (dunno when).

I know what you mean about ASP.

It isn't a mess to me, it is even more of a beast within. Until data backed what I said, everyone was running the pulleys and LOVING them. The feel is awesome (butt dyno). It isn't until you really datalog, dyno, AND take rsponsibility for those numbers that you want to take it to another level.

I got my VRP one and had it for about 2 weeks with a sprintbooster and was having loads of fun. I was planning on TB next and headers last. I wasn't going to get a tune. Then VRP / Powerchip came along. That happened just after Adam and EVOTech started really getting honed, so now we should be seeing a new round of tuners. Sorry for the OT.

Long story short, I dunno if I would get a used one, unless you are sure it is true.

HUH... so that's why you haven't called about letting me try the Sprint Booster... well I see how you are... hey what about next Thursday... lunch? Oh wait my beast will be in the paint shop... well what about getting something on the calendar for the week after?

Evan You're so full of ****. I can not even believe you are airing this in public. Scammed I made you well aware of the condition before it was sent. I took pictures and told you that the metal had road rash type dings. You still wanted it. After you got the pulley you decided you wanted something new. You had to have your daddy call me to get your money back. I told you a deal was a deal and you knew the condition when you got it.

I had it on my car for 3 or 4 months before taking it off. 2 other MBWorld Members had it on their cars in the same condition. Before you go around slandering my name you better realize I do take this seriously.

Mods I ask you to please edit the post and delete mine this post was completely uncalled for and BS.

Pathetic.

I have the emails to prove it. I also have voice mail wav files from you telling me. "I am going to charge this back on my Amex and I will keep the pulley"

So who is the scammer

Fact: You called me and had your dad get on the phone to threaten me.
Fact: I told you through numerous emails and PM's about the condition with pictures.
Fact: I told you this was a no return deal up front.

I hope as you get older you learn that you have to live up to your commitments and not hide behind "Daddy's Platinum card and threats"

Mods please delete this thread. It's my reputation he is slandering.

Listen.... U go ahead and post these emails you are talking about. You told me to go ahead and do what i wanted to do, u claimed that it was in perfect working condition. I brought it to ur old shop that u trusted with your Porsche and they claimed it would cause damage to my car and wasn't worth installing. If you want to talk about this any further give me a call you have my phone number.

I sold my pulley on ebay, but before it sold jdj27x came on the forum and started attacking the pulley I was selling. I don't even know him and have had no dealings with him. He had never even seen the pulley he was attacking. I am suprised he started a new thread looking for a USED pulley. Seems to me that if he is that picky, he should shop for a new pulley not a used one. All used pulleys have some "road rash." I don't know either guy personally, but reading between the lines it is more likely that Sandoval is right.

LOL..

"IF" all those cars are yours or your dads, and you have access to his Amex, why not just pony the hell up for a new pulley?

I saw the pics of Sandovals pulley, he had it in the classifieds with dings, scrapes, scratches, etc. for all the world to see. I'll admit the pictures looked a little shaky, but he was upfront about it; you went ahead & bought it anyway.... Now why don't you return it to him since you are bragging about getting your money back?

Pretty weak, IMO.

A short while back I bought a used ASP pulley from a respected member of this board that had removed it prior to selling his car. It was an inexpensive way to make the best bang for your buck pulley (ASP) provide even more HP per dollar spent. I was aware it was used, I've read that ASP pulleys develop some rust, so when it arrived it was just as I expected. Cosmetically, it's no beauty contest winner, but the key slot is perfect and there was no other damage or surprises.

Being into precision with things automotive, I sent it out for a professional "perfection" balancing to get it ready for the install. This step probably isn't necessary, but it's a little known fact that manufacturers allow a higher balance variation that you might suspect on crankshaft dampeners, so it was worth spending the few extra bucks for the balance. I would do the same if a bought a new one - who knows how well these are really being balanced by the manufacturer? We assume they are, and they are probably close, but also probably not spot on either.

Anyway, here's a shot of the pulley following it's return from the balancing shop. You can see the fresh drill holes where it was necessary to remove a small amount of metal to zero the balance out:

I will do a little clean-up and repaint on it before I install it, but from a balance standpoint, it is most definitely good to go. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used pulley again from a reputable seller.

I could vouch for SandOval. He has been a class act with my dealing with him. I actually sold him that used pulley and had it on my car for over 8 months or so. NOthing went wrong. Engine was fine.... SandOval is a good guy and i doubt he would try to scam anyone...... I can't deal with people who make a deal and reneg on them... what goes around comes around fellas...just remember that...

Seems like the pulley in questions was being passed around like an inexpensive hooker. If you're on the budget for mods just go with ASP, I did and no complaints... and this way you can have extra $ for cooling, as you will need that anyway.

Here it is he asked for it....

Again it is not brand new it has been used. It is in perfect working condition no problems or damage.
It's been on my car for a couple thousand miles with no problems. You will be happy with the pulley.

Eric

Sure if they determine the part is damaged and inoperable. I will allow you to reurn the pulley.

I HAD THIS PULLEY INSTALLED AT Lucent Motors. This highly reputable shop in West Los Angeles actually used to be the shop Sandoval brought his car to.

The owner of the shop said it would not be worth it to install. Actually he started lauging when he saw the pulley in question. Again he is one of the largest Kleemann dealers on the West CoAST.
