Wheel locks for HREs

What wheel locks should I use for my HREs? Anyone know the MB wheel lock part number for w211? Lastly, will the e63 lugs (wheel locks) fit on an e55?

thanks

Look at one of your HRE Lugs...it is either cone or ball seat.
The wheel lock should be the same. It should also be the same length.

HRE's normally use cone seat wheel bolts. Correct bolt size for an E55 is M14 with a 1.5 pitch thread. The best way to confirm correct length is to take your stock MB lug bolt and seat it in place while your MB wheel is off the car. Then measure the length of the portion of the bolt thread's extension past the hub mounting surface. This length is how far your aftermarket wheel bolts should thread into the hubs on the car, so they should extend out of the aftermarket wheel by the same amount is the stock set-up.

The reason you need to take this measurement is because different wheel manufacturers sometimes have different hub thicknesses, where, for example, a stock bolt may not extend far enough into the hub when used on an aftermarket wheel. If the wheel bolts are too short, the wheel could come loose, and if the bolts are too long, they will likely interfere with something inside the hub. There is some standardization, but safety reasons dictate you perform the simple verification of correct length.

Chances are, the Gorilla wheel bolt locks that will fit with the HREs are the ones that have a cone mounting surface and have a thread length of 1.05" (26mm), and are M14x1.5 as noted above.

For your HREs, go to Google and do a search for "Gorilla 17018". It will return many places that sell the M14 x 1.5 cone style locks (Gorilla part no. 17018) that E55s use. The equivalent Gorilla ball style lock is part number 18018. Both of these measure 26mm thread length, which should be fine for most standard Mercedes wheels, but be sure to do the measurements described above in my earlier post before ordering since your HREs may have different hub thicknesses.

Thanks for the info on this. Just to clarify. The 17018 lugs are just bolts and not locks. Although there are plans, a Gorilla rep told me they do not have an ETA for the locks.
